인간이 되고 싶어하는 만화 세계의 섹시걸 홀리(킴 베이싱어)는 교통 사고를 당해 만화 세계로 건너온 해리스(브래드 피트)에게 접근한다. 하지만 해리스가 전혀 관심을 보이지 않자 그녀는 쿨 월드의 만화 작가 잭(가브리엘 번)에게 접근한다. 잭은 홀리의 섹시함에 반해 사랑을 나눈다. 잭과 사랑을 나눈 후 인간이 된 홀리는 여러 남자들한테 교태를 부리던 중 만화세계로 돌아가려고 하는 자신의 모습을 발견하고 당황한다. 홀리는 빌딩 옥상에서 만화세계 주인공이 인간세계를 드나들 수 있는 유일한 기구인 스파이크가 빛나고 있는 것을 발견하고 옥상 위로 올라간다. 한편 해리스는 인간이 된 홀리를 만화세계로 잡아오기 위해 인간 세계로 내려온다. 해리스는 홀리를 잡기 위해 옥상에서 줄다리기를 하다가 그만 홀리의 잔꾀에 속아 밑으로 떨어진다.

훕스는 낸투켓으로 여행을 가던 도중 곤경에 빠진 것을 구해준 것을 인연으로 카산드라를 알게 된다. 아길라는 베커스테드왕국을 건설하려는 야심을 가지고 카산드라의 할아버지의 집을 노리고 있다. 이를 막기 위해 카산드라는 동분서주하지만 일은 뜻대로 되지 않는다. 할아버지 마저 돌아가시고 훕스와 친구들의 도움으로 모은 돈조차 쓸모 없게 되어 버리자 마지막 카드로 훕스와 카산드라, 그리고 친구들은 낸투켓 보트 경주에 출전하게 된다.

1950년대 때 호러 만화 셀라 드웰러로 그린 만화가 콜린 차일드레스가 지하실에 있는 작업실에서 원고 작업을 하던 중 작품에 영감을 받은 마법서 ‘커즈 오브 더 에이션트 데드’의 내용을 소리 내어 읽었다가 만화 내용이 현실화되어 식인 괴물이 나타나 위협을 가해오자 방에 불을 질렀다 괴물과 함께 불에 타죽었는데.. 그로부터 30년 후 여성 만화가 휘트니 테일러가 콜린 차일드레스가 살던 집에 이사를 왔다가 지하 작업실에서 그가 남긴 마법서를 발견해 책 내용을 낭독하고 마법의 원과 주문의 글귀를 적은 괴물의 초상을 그렸다가 괴물을 다시 부활시키면서 자신이 이어서 그린 셀라 드웰러 만화 내용대로 현실에서 대참사가 벌어지는 이야기

When Duffy Bergman, a New York cartoonist, meets Meg Lloyd, a gourmet chef, he discovers the love of his life and they marry -- yet love alone isn't enough to make them happy. Americans are preoccupied with the news, but need an escape from many of the events reported in the news. These escapes in the past have included dime store novels. The most accessible of these escapes is what are known as the funny papers, the set of serialized comic strips that are included within many newspapers. They appeal to all socio-economic classes, and all ages. Some of the earliest known from the late 19th century include the Yellow Kid, Little Nemo, Happy Hooligan, the Katzenjammer Kids, Mutt & Jeff, and Bringing Up Father. Many cartoonists are seen in action. Some originated their characters, while others have taken over following the passing of the originator. The joy of many comic strips are the absurd and the fantastical, which are limited only by the imagination of the cartoonist. Others are grounded in reality, which add to their poignancy within the public mindset.

Drawing Between the Lines is a short documentary examining the autobiographical world of Chicago cartoonist Jeffrey Brown. Whether sitting in his apartment, riding the L-train, or traveling the country promoting his work, Brown spends his time filling the pages of his sketchbooks. His graphic novels provide a humorous, yet intensely personal look at love, sex and relationships. Drawing Between the Lines explores Brown's candid approach to storytelling and unconventional method of cartooning and provides insight from friends, fans and fellow cartoonists.
