트로이 전쟁 이후 정처없이 바다를 항해하며 떠도는 율리시즈의 여정을 그렸다. 전쟁을 끝내고 사랑하는 아내 페네로페가 있는 곳을 찾아 많은 고난과 모험을 겪어 나간다.

2차 세계 대전 동유럽. 유대인 소년이 전쟁을 피해 맡겨진다. 돌봐주던 아주머니가 갑작스런 사고로 죽자 소년의 시련은 시작된다.
