1936년 프랑코 장군의 쿠데타로 인한 내전이 벌어지고 있는 스페인. 공화주의자를 부모로 둔 10살의 카를로스는 산타루치아의 고아원으로 가차없이 보내진다. 스무살이 되어서 다시 찾아 온 카를로스, 어릴 때 고아원 친구였으나 지금은 관리인이 된 자킨토의 적의어린 시선을 마주하게 된다. 하지만 더 끔찍한 것은 어린 시절 참혹하게 살해된 친구 산티의 유령과 만나 것이다. 산티는 자신을 고통에서 구원해 줄 것을 부탁하며, 임박한 재앙을 경고해준다. 유년 시절에 누구나 가졌던 무서운 기억들이 커서도 반복된다는 호러 드라마. 감독 기옐모 델 토로는 와 으로 국내에 소개되었으며, 최근작으로는 가 있다.

1936년, 프랑코를 내세운 스페인 군대는 정권을 잡으려는 야욕을 드러내고, 이후 시작된 스페인 내전으로 수많은 사람들이 고통 받는다. 뛰어난 학문적 성취와 인품으로 사람들의 존경을 받던 학자이자 작가인 미구엘은 새로운 정치를 요구했던 자신의 말과 글이 결과적으로 군부를 도운 건 아니었는지 자문한다. 한편 미구엘은 부당하게 탄압받는 한 정치인으로부터 도움의 요청을 받는다.

2차 세계대전 중 카틴 숲에서 살해당한 폴란드 장교들과 그 사실을 모른 채 남편과 아버지, 아들과 형제들이 돌아오기를 기다렸던 가족들에 관한 이야기다. 은 또한 기억과 진실에 대한 불굴의 사투에 관한 영화이며, 소련공산당이 자신들이 자행한 학살을 강제로 묻으려 했던 거짓말에 대한 단호한 평가이다. 2차 세계대전 초기 1939년 9월 17일 독일의 폴란드 침공 직후 소련 적군 또한 스탈린의 명령에 의해 폴란드 땅을 침입한다. 그 결과, 모든 폴란드 장교들은 소비에트 수용소에 억류되었다. 창기병 연대장의 아내 안나는 그의 남편 안제이을 기다린다. 그녀는 비록 부정하고 있지만 카틴 숲에서 폴란드 군인들의 시체 무더기들이 발견된 후 어쩔 수 없이 소련군들이 그의 남편을 죽였다는 사실과 대면하게 된다. 조종사의 여동생 아그네쉬카 역시 그와 같은 운명에 처하고 범죄에 대한 침묵과 거짓말에 의해 비탄에 잠긴다. 그리고 연대장의 친구 예르지만이 유일한 생존자로 남겨진다. 은 폴란드 대통령 레흐 카친스키와 부인 마리아 카친스키의 후원 아래 만들어졌다.

1983년의 아르헨티나. 기업체 중역인 로베르토(헥터 알테리오 분)와 고등학교 교사인 알리시아(노마 알린드로 분)와 양녀로 키우는 딸 가비(아날리아 카스트로 분)는 단란한 가정을 이루고 있다. 로베르토는 상관인 아드라다가 갑자기 사라진 사실에 충격을 받고, 가비를 어느 병원에서 데려온 아이라고 알고 있던 알리시아는 갑자기 나타난 소꼽친구 아나의 이야기를 들은 뒤, 가비의 출생에 대해 의혹을 갖는다. 아나도 동거인 페드로의 반정부활동에 대한 보복으로 수감돼 고문을 당하고 석방됐다는 사실을 알고 알리시아는 정치적 현실에 눈을 뜨게 된다. 알리시아는 또한 남편에게 딸의 생모에 대해 묻지만 로베르토가 알려주지 않자 가비의 출생비밀을 조사한다.

The night of July 15, 2016 changed the history of Turkey. On that day there were coordinated attacks by parts of the Turkish army, among others in Istanbul. The aim of the military: a coup against the government. The decisive confrontation occurred on the Bosporus Bridge. While President Erdogan was still on vacation, live at TV he called on the people who were devoted to him to stand against the military. As an enemy for the masses, he presented his adversary Fethullah Gülen, whom he branded as the coup leader. He also urged the imams of the country's mosques to condition the population to resist. And so it happens that at night thousands of agitated people take to the streets to oppose the armed insurgents. The death toll was high. 352 people died across Turkey during the attempted coup. The consequences are even more serious: Erdogan used this gift, as he called it himself, to undermine democracy, to arrange mass arrests of dissidents and to transform Turkey into a dictatorship.

오스트리아 시골 마을의 열일곱 살 소년 프란츠는 가계를 돕기 위해 빈으로 와 담배 가게에 취직한다. 나치 점령 하의 빈은 폭압과 유대인에 대한 반감으로 불안감이 고조되지만, 담배 가게만은 신문과 담배를 찾는 손님들에게 작은 성지로 남아있다. 댄서인 아네츠카와 사랑에 빠진 프란츠는 담배가게의 단골 중 저명한 정신분석가 지그문트 프로이트에게 상담을 요청하면서 점점 친분을 쌓아나간다. 전운이 짙어가는 중 뚜렷한 정치의식을 가진 담배 가게 주인 오토가 나치에 의해 연행되고, 프란츠와 프로이트는 각자 생존을 위한 선택의 갈림길에 선다. 오스트리아 작가 로버트 시탈러의 동명 소설을 원작으로 한 는 나치 치하의 빈이라는 정치적 무대를 배경으로 전개되는 한 소년의 비극적인 성장기다. 이야기 속의 프로이트는 프란츠의 성장을 돕는 조력자인 동시에 소년에서 남성으로 성장하는 프란츠의 변화를 꿈과 현실, 리비도와 죽음 같은 흐름 안에서 바라보게끔 하는 특정한 컨텍스트로 제시되기도 한다. 프로이트 역을 맡은 의 브루노 간츠의 모습이 반갑다.
