Book of Numbers (1973)

미조리주를 누비던 갱이었으나 무법자의 생활에 회의를 느낀 맥클린토크(제임스 스튜어트 분)는 스스로를 변화시키고자 농부들을 이끌고 오레곤주로 향하는 안내인을 맡아 험난한 여정에 나선다. 여정 중에 말도둑이었던 콜(아서 케네디 분)의 도움을 받게 되는데, 콜은 맥클린토크의 과거를 알고 있는 인물로 이 일을 계기로 맥클린토크와 함께 여정을 떠나게 된다. 그러나 포틀랜드에 도착한 스튜어트는 농부들에게 물건을 실어 날라다 주겠다고 한 약속을 깨뜨려버린 상인의 사기극에 휘말리게 된다. 정상적인 방법으로는 물건을 되찾아올 수 없음을 아는 맥클린토크는 인간의 모럴인 변할 수 없다고 생각하며 끝없이 맥클린토크를 의심하는 농부들의 지도자와 함께 상인의 식량과 말을 훔쳐 농부들에게 되돌려 주고, 그 과정에서 콜이 상인에게 보급품을 팔아먹었다는 사실을 알게 된다. 콜은 자신이 훔친 물건들을 되돌려 받기 위해 농부와 그의 딸을 인질로 삼고, 맥클린도크는 예전의 동료였던 콜과 대결을 벌이게 된다. 맥클린토크는 농부들에 대한 충성심과 어두운 자신의 과거에 대한 구원, 그리고 복수를 위해 총을 든다.

프랑스에서 정전협정이 조인된 후, 미국 병사 세 명이 그들의 미래에 대해 고심한다. 에디 바틀렛은 예전의 직업인 차 수리공을 할 수 있을 거라고 굳게 믿고 있으며, 한때 술집 지배인을 했던 죠지 할리는 최근에 제정된 금주령 같은 건 안중에도 없다. 또한 법대생이었던 로이트 하트는 법 공부를 계속할 계획을 갖고 있다. 하지만 그들이 돌아왔을 때 미국은 많이 변해있다. 에디는 실업자들이 넘쳐나는 통에 차 수리공 자리는 얻지도 못하고 할 수 없이 택시를 운전하게 된다. 어느 날 에디는 나이트클럽 여주인인 파나마 스미스 앞으로 가는 밀주를 배달하다가 경찰에 체포되지만 파나마에게 불리한 증언을 하지 않는다. 파나마는 고마움의 표시로 에디가 밀주업에 참여할 수 있게 도와준다.

After some weeks or months, the wife and mother, Rebecca Morgan, sends the oldest son, who is about 11 years old, to visit his father at the camp. The trip becomes something of an odyssey for the boy. During the journey he stays a little while with a dedicated Black schoolteacher.

도박계의 대부, 킹(유덕화 분)은 도박사들의 현란한 손들을 물리치며 늘 절대지존의 자리를 고수해 도고있다. 점점 커지는 도박판, 킹은 아내의 임신 소식을 듣게 되지만 홍콩 검은 조직 보스와의 한판 승을 위해 도박판으로 향한다. 비서와 함께 속임수 카드로 거액을 손에 넣으려는 순간, 그만 조직원들에게 적발 당하고 만다. 이 일로 도박판은 아수라장이 되고 킹은 살인혐의로 구속된다. 더구나 감옥에서 킹은 아내가 자살했다는 불운의 소식마저 접하게 된다. 5년이 지난 뒤 킹은 출감하게 되고 도박사를 꿈꾸는 드레곤과 함께 기거를 하게 된다. 드레곤에게는 아청이라는 여동생이 있는데 조직패들로부터 위험에 처하게 되자 킹은 이를 도와 위기에서 구해낸다. 위기를 모면한 아청은 킹에게 호감을 갖게 되지만 킹은 자신을 짓누르고 있는 과거에 대한 기억 때문에 괴로워한다. 어느 날, 우연히 죽은 줄로만 알았던 아내가 예전 자신의 비서 함께 아들을 데리고 놀이동산에서 즐거운 시간을 보내던 중, 예전에 자신을 궁지에 몰아 넣었던 조직원들로부터 기습을 받게 된다. 아내와 비서가 인질로 잡혀가게 되고 이들을 풀어주는 대가로 마카오 조직 보스와의 도박에서 이겨줄 것을 요구받게 된다. 결전의 날, 킹과 드레곤은 목숨을 담보로 한 마지막 도박게임을 위해 약속장소로 향한다. 검은 조직에 맞서 막판 승부를 벌이게 되는데.
