Hard Ride (1987)

파오파오 맥주사의 사이클 프로팀의 멤버 페페는 스페인의 안달루시아의 대지를 달리고 있었다. 좀처럼 승리를 못하는 페페. 레이스 도중에 우연히 자신이 프로팀에서 착출될 것이라는 사실을 알게 된다. 마음의 동요를 억누르듯이 레이스에 몰두는 페페. 사이클 대회의 레이스는 페페가 태어나고 자라온 마을로 접어든다. 성당에서는 페페의 형, 앙헬의 결혼식이 거행되고 있었다. 앙헬의 신부는 페페의 옛 연인이었던 카르멘이었다. 점점 더 복잡한 심경을 일으키면서 경기에 임하는 페페. 그러나 레이스에 이변이 생긴다. 작은 사고가 일어나 경기 코스가 바뀌게 된다. 페페에게 승리의 찬스가 찾아온 것이었다. 페페는 승리를 향해 페달을 밟는다.

'부엘타 아 에스파냐' 최종일 전날 국민적 영웅인 '마르코 론다'가 갑자기 자살한다. 페페의 동료인 쵸찌는 동경하던 선배였던 마르코의 자살로 인해 레이서 생활에 의문을 느끼기 시작한다. 그런 가운데, 마르코ㅇ 죽음의 슬픔을 가슴에 품고, 페페와 쵸찌 그리고 팀'파오파오 맥주'는 재팬컵이 열리는 우쓰노미야로 향한다. 내년에 팀이 없어지는 '파오파오 맥주'이지만, 첫 방문에서 팀을 응원하는 현지인들로 인해 사기가 오른다. 하지만 레이스 전날 쵸찌는 내년에 레이스 생활에서 은퇴하고 싶다고 말을 하는데...
