Yoichi Adachi
The body of Shinsuke Maeda, a wealthy older man, is discovered in his garden. While at first glance it appears that he missed his step while exiting into the garden and hit his forehead on a flowerbed rock, it is established that a safe installed in the living room has been emptied. It seems that, the night before, Maeda left the hospital he was staying at of his own will and came home, and was robbed immediately after returning. His daughter Yumie Nagano insists that Chikako Inui, a woman her father had been seeing, must be the perpetrator. She says that Maeda was thinking of getting married to Chikako soon. However, Chikako finds Yumie and her husband suspicious. Troubled by debts incurred by opening their ramen store, they pestered Maeda and he pushed them away. She calmly points out that Maeda gave her a will in which he left all of the 50 million plus yen hidden in the safe to her, so she had no reason to steal from him.
An employee of a bank goes missing following his retirement from the bank. Veteran detective Yobuno (Koji Yakusho), who is set to retire himself, is charged with the investigating the missing person case. Det. Yobuno quickly finds more mysterious as he delves into the case, but a woman named Keiko Fukumura (Eri Fukatsu) surfaces who may hold the key to case.

It is an 'animal panic horror' film with a new edge presenting an allegory of the worst in the modern materialistic world. This is the first full-length feature film for Yuichi Kanemaru, who has worked as assistant director to Kaneto Shindo, Yasuo Furuhata and Takashi Miike. And Tomoko Tabata's dynamic performance in her first horror movie is a definite highlight.
Fujiwara no Kaneie
원령들의 저주와 요괴 출몰로 사건과 불화가 끊이지 않았던 헤이안 시대. 궁정 관리인 미나모토 히로마사(이토 히데아키)는 당대 최고의 음양사 아베노 세이메이(노무라 만사이)를 찾아가 황실 수호를 간청하라는 지시를 받게된다. 여우의 자식이라는 괴소문 등 미스테리한 존재인 세이메이를 직접 만난 히로마사는 그의 신비로운 주술을 보고 놀라움과 함께 두려움을 금할 수 없게 된다. 그 후 여러 가지 기이한 일을 함께 겪으면서 세이메이와 히로마사는 서로 신의를 다지는 사이가 된다.
수도 주변에 맴도는 수상한 기운을 알아차린 세이메이. 히로마사는 아직 어린애기인 돈페이 친황의 몸에 이상한 일이 일어나고 있음을 세이메이에게 알린다. 얼굴을 분간할 수 없는 흉측한 모습의 괴물이 되어있는 돈페이 친황에게서 세이메이가 악령을 몰아내지만, 그것은 앞으로 일어나게 될 끔찍한 사건의 전조에 불과했다. 한편 친황의 반대 세력인 도손(사나다 히로유키)은 세력 확장과 과거의 복수를 위해 악령의 신을 불러내는 데 성공한다.
황실 수호를 하고 있는 세이메이 세력과 악령의 신을 통해 요괴 군단을 부활시킨 도손 세력간의 피할 수 없는 전쟁이 시작되는데...
