히틀러가 제2차 세계대전을 일으킬 무렵 독일에서는 히틀러 정권에 저항하는 학생 모임들이 우후죽순으로 생겨난다. 뮌헨에서 결성된 백장미단 역시 히틀러 정권을 비판하면서 독일 국민들을 일깨우기 위해 저항하는 학생 단체. 사랑과 시와 재즈를 읊조리는 여느 순수한 여대생과 다름 없었던 스무 한 살의 여대생 소피 숄. 그녀는 오빠 한스가 가입되어 있는 백장미단에 가담하게 되고, 젊은이들의 움직임을 도모하기 위해 행동을 결심한다.

온통 하얗고 거대한 빙하들이 위용을 자랑하는 북극 그린랜드 섬 그 곳에 축복이 가득한 새 생명의 탄생을 기다리는 엄마 곰이 있다. 그러나 늑대의 습격으로 새끼 곰은 따뜻한 햇볕 한 번 보지 못한 채 싸늘하게 죽고 만다. 그때, 사랑스런 아이를 이제 막 출산한 에스키모 부부는 곰의 슬픈 울음소리를 듣는다. 종일 먹지도 않고 물속을 바라보며 죽은 새끼 곰을 그리워하는 엄마 곰. 아빠 곰은 에스키모 부부의 집에 숨어 들어가 갓 태어난 아기를 몰래 데리고 온다. 행복한 미소와 따뜻한 가슴으로 마치 자신의 새끼인 것처럼 인간 아이를 품어보는 어미 곰. 아기는 엄마 곰의 따뜻한 사랑과 보살핌을 받으면서 자신이 곰인 줄 알고 성장하는데. 넌, 마법에 걸린 곰이야! 한편, 아기를 빼앗긴 에스키모 아버지는 필사적으로 곰의 뒤를 쫓고, 마침내 아기를 데리고 있는 곰의 은신처를 발견한다. 아기를 뺏기지 않으려고 엄마 곰은 있는 힘을 다해 대항하지만, 혈투 끝에 숨을 거두고야 만다. 다시 인간의 품으로 돌아온 아이는 이미 ‘곰’이 되어버려 인간생활에 적응하지 못한 채 엄마 곰만 그리워 한다. 그러던 어느날, 죽기 직전 엄마 곰이 알려준 대로 ‘산의 정령’을 찾아 나서는데…

Circleen the elf girl and her comical mouse pals, Ingolf and Frederik, live under the geraniums on an artist's balcony. Their idyllic lives are interrupted when they meet the myopic Cindermouse, whose grumpy dad refuses to hold her birthday and instead locks her up in a box. Short, plump, cheese-loving Ingolf is forced to act and to show that he is a real hero.

She's back - the lovable little elf who sleeps in a matchbox on the artist's desk: and of course her playmates, too, the comical mouse couple Fredrik and Ingolf. The trio are moving into the city. It's a mjor step for Circleen and the mice, and one which has its pros and cons. The city is a dangerous place, but it also has cute, amusing, cheeky playmates such as Sidse, whose family boasts a pirate, and Hassan's family, who introduce food-loving Ingolf to feta cheese and belly-dancing.

Three siblings ingeniously avoid being sent off to a children's home while their solo-mother serves a short sentence in a prison for shoplifting. Rather than have the news leak out and have to be escorted off with the eccentric welfare officer, they invent a 'never present' dad who is looking after them.
