Misa Shimizu

Kaisei Sakamoto is a 16 year old boy who is inclined to settle everything with his fists. He grew up in a town where you can see both Nagazaki and Gunkanjima, living with his father. His father, Genkai Sakamoto, runs a small ramen shop. The father-son duo has just recently had a large fight. The story showcases fragments of one's youth and the questions that crop up while growing up.

A popular high school band is scouted by a Tokyo-based record company. The band is involved in a car accident, however, shattering many hopes. The band receives a demo tape from a girl who lives on the navy base. They are reinvigorated.

Sakuragi decides to hold a party and invite the guests at his hotel. One of the guests is the mother of the student who committed suicide. Yusuke is distressed all over again. When the party begins, the guests talk about the problems they have.

Misaki visits her boyfriend Koichi in Okinawa, the southern island of Japan. To welcome the arrival of Misaki, Koichi's friend Jinsei holds a welcoming party at his house. At the party, Misaki learns from the wise granny about the legend behind the bag hanging from the fig tree and the local demon: Kijimuna, which deeply fascinate Misaki. Jinsei then introduces Misaki to a young female writer, Kagemi, who tells Misaki the darker side of the Kijimuna legend. As the local shaman and medium to the other world, Kagemi’s knowledge in local lore gives Misaki much more to wonder about. The quiet life in Okinawa takes a sharp turn with the arrival of Jinsei’s ex-wife Sanae, which leads to a tragic accident. Soon, the parties involved begin to see a vengeful spirit and their peaceful lifes turn into a nightmare.

직업을 구하는 중인 가네코 텟페이는 회사 면접을 보러 만원 전철을 탔다가 치한으로 몰려 현행범으로 체포되고 만다. 텟페이는 경찰 조사에서 혐의를 부인하고 억울함을 호소하지만 담당 형사는 자백하라는 추궁 뿐, 결국 구치소에 갇히고 만다. 구치소에서 생활하며 고독감과 초조함에 시달리는 텟페이. 검찰로 넘어간 텟페이는 담당 검사의 취조에서도 역시 무죄를 주장하지만 인정 받지 못해 결국 기소되고 만다. 형사 사건으로 기소되는 경우 재판에서 유죄 판결을 받을 확률은 99.9%라고 한다. 그런 텟페이를 변호하기 위해 나선 것이 베테랑 변호사인 아라카와 마사요시와 신참 여변호사인 스도 리코였다. 피해자와 같은 여성의 입장에서 치한범으로 고발된 용의자를 변호한다는 것을 꺼려하는 스도. 그러나 아라카와는 무고하게 치한범으로 재판에 회부된 사건이야말로 일본 형사재판의 문제점을 여실히 드러내는 지점이라면서 사건에 적극적으로 나서라고 재촉한다. 그리고 텟페이의 어머니 토요코와 친구 사이토 타츠오도 텟페이의 무고함을 믿고 행동을 시작한다. 얼마 후 모두가 지켜보는 가운데 재판이 열린다.

Kyogokudo is a used book seller who doubles as an onmyouji, or Heian style occultist. His friend Sekiguchi brings him the story of a woman who has been pregnant for twenty months. Sekiguchi investigates further with the help of his friend Enokizu, a detective with the unusual ability to see people's memories. After seeing her husband off to work, the young author identified only as Yoshiko sets off to read the large collection of letters she received from other young authors. These are often letters containing samples of their work for critique. One large envelope contains a letter. The letter-writer does not provide his name. The letter is a confession of crimes. The letter-writer has no family or friends, and claims to be "ugly beyond description". He is a chair maker and loves his work and all the chairs he creates, even going so far as to claim some sort of intangible connection to his work.

Straight-laced, honest Japanese travel agent Misuzu gets a job as a tour guide so that she can the world. On her first assignment in Bangkok, Thailand she does her best for her ungrateful charges, but gets fired when the hotel (through no fault of her own) misplaces all their passports. She also finds herself the victim of a scam by two Japanese con-artists (innocent-looking Tondabayashi and half-Thai Thuy) living in Bangkok. When the hotel finds the passports, she decides to buck the system and sell them on the black market. She teams up with the two con-artists to scam, rip off and rob all the Japanese tourists in Bangkok. They keep trying to pull off bigger and bigger jobs, and end up in trouble with two dumb, sightseeing yakuza, among others. Also, a love triangle forms as Tondabayashi falls for Misuzu, and Misuzu falls for the older Thuy.
