In the wake of the tragic events at Waco, Texas where an armed conflict with armed militiamen broke out, agents of the federal government's Alcohol, Tobacco, and Firearms (ATF) carry out a clandestine mission within another militia operation that is possibly involved in the sales of guns and the murder of an agent. 국내에 이라는 제목의 비디오로 출시되기도 했다. 1930년대 독일, 나찌당을 창설한 히틀러 정권이 기승을 부리고 있다. 피터, 토마스는 스윙 재즈를 좋아하는 반항적인 10대 소년으로 밤이면 클럽에 나가 지터벅을 춘다. 아비드는 다리가 불편해서 춤을 추는 대신 기타로 스윙을 멋지게 연주한다. 이들은 자신을 스윙 키즈라고 부른다. 그 당시 독일 청년들은 히틀러 청년단이라는 곳에 들어가야 했지만 피터와 친구들은 들어가지 않고 지낸다. 그러다 피터와 토마스가 라디오를 훔쳐 달아나다 잡히게 되고 어쩔 수 없이 청년단에 입단하게 된다. 스윙 키즈에 대한 정부의 제재가 심해지고 히틀러 청년단원들의 공격을 받게 되자 아비드는 스스로 목숨을 끊는다. 여기에 충격을 받은 피터는 더욱 더 나찌에 대해 회의를 느끼게 되지만 토마스는 현실에 적응하며 철저한 나찌 당원이 되어간다. 바이얼리니스트 아버지를 나찌에게 잃은 피터에게는 당연한 일이었다. 나찌가 죽인 유태인의 유골을 전달하고 돌아온 피터는 그날 밤 비스마르크 클럽에 나가서 춤을 추다가 잡혀가게 된다.

아버지가 경영하는 도살장에서 일하는 칼은 북아일랜드의 알스타 지방 작은 마을에 사는 19살의 청년이다.그는 아일랜드계의 카톨릭 신자로, 영국계의 프로테스탄트가 주도권을 장악하고 있는 이 마을에서 직장마저 해고 당한 채 울분을 삼키며 살아가고 있었다. 그러던 어느 날 도서관에 새로온 여직원인 마르셀라를 알게 되는데 그녀는 테러로 남편을 잃은 젊은 미망인이다. 칼은 그녀에게 차츰 사랑을 느끼지만 예전에 그가 IRA(아일랜드 공화군)의 대원이었을때 친구와 함께 테러하다가 살인한 사람이 그녀의 남편인 것이 밝혀지고, 칼과 친구들은 수배를 받게 된다. 마르셀라와 칼은 심한 갈등을 느끼지만,결국엔 서로의 상황을 이해하고 그들의 사랑은 더욱 깊어진다. 그러나 법의 손길은 냉정하였다. 마침내 체포되는 칼. 잡혀가는 그를 바라보는 마르셀라의 애절한 모습에서 영화는 끝난다.

Two brothers of German heritage live in the Polish town of Poznan. Michal is the sensitive brother who likes literature, Andrzej is the daredevil with no intellectual bent, and between the two of them, they steal the German consul's Daimler-Benz limousine, on a lark. When they are caught by the police, the German consul unexpectedly forgives them their prank -- but in the meantime, the episode has put the brothers in touch with a Nazi underground group who want to prepare the way for the pending German invasion (set to occur within a matter of days). Andrej helps the group kill the German consul and then they blame the death on the Poles -- giving the Germans an excuse to cross the border. Not only the consul, but "artistic" types like Michal are also killed for the same reasons. After these murders, Michal realizes his brother is no better than the group he joined, and decides to set his own course in the face of the rising threat of invasion.

The main character is a tv technician, Jan, an individualist, who is harassed by the conformists. Jan loves Ewa, a ballet student, who in turn is in a liaison with Allan, a successful and powerful man.

Set at the turn of the century it presents a story of a famous Polish athlete, Zbyszko Cyganiewicz. It begins in a small town where a traveling circus attracts a shy boy into a phony wrestling game to please the crowds. The youth, however, takes his strength seriously, eventually defeating a name wrestler in a fair match. Angered circus manager fires him; he leaves happily due to two wrestler brothers who were harassing him. The wrestler goes on to fame, performing in the world's top arenas, and one day is serenaded by a tenor from the crowd. Fame brings him women and admirers but he is uncompromising on his profession. He has his revenge on one of his tormentors defeating him in the ring. One day, attending a game in a tuxedo, he is challenged by another of the brothers and drawn into a brutal game, in course of which he kills his opponent. Thus his career ends.

The young protagonist, Elżbieta, grew up in a small town bourgeois house. She rebels against the town's atmosphere and imagines that a love affair with a poet from a big city will liberate her. However, the love affair lasts only for a fleeting moment. It is the young engineers who arrive in the town to build a factory who are the real harbinger of changes in the town itself and the minds of its inhabitants. Based on a novel by Kornel Filipowicz.
