A woman is found dead and three other women, incarcerated at a psychiatric hospital. The body belonged to the wife of the hospital President, Dr. Kiriyama who has gone missing since the day of the murder. As Detective Hayashida and his partner start to investigate the case and interview the women linked to the victim, they soon find themselves tangled in a web of the women’s lies and deceptions.

일본의 학생운동이 막을 내린 계기가 된 나가노의 ‘ 아사마 산장’사건을 소재로 혁명을 좇던 젊은이들이 파국에 내몰려야 했던 과정을 상세히 기록한 영화. 1972년 다섯 명의 젊은이들이 눈 덮인 산장에서 경찰과 10여일간 대치하며 농성을 벌이다 체포된다. 이들은 당시 학생운동의 상징적 단체이던 연합적군으로 이 사건 이후 일본 학생운동은 막을 내리게 된다. 혁명전사를 꿈꾸던 젊은이들이 동료간에 린치, 살인, 이후 인질극을 벌이게 되는 과정을 치밀하게 담아냈다.

This television special is an alternate telling of the Kamen Rider Ryuki story. The story takes place in an unnamed Japanese city, and follows five students at Shinyo Academy as they try to piece together the puzzle of a new drug and recent disappearances among the student populace. While the teachers believe them to only be runaways, the female students whisper among themselves about the urban legend Boogiepop, who is said to be a Shinigami.

기분 나쁠 정도의 한적함에 덮혀있는 쿠로우즈 마을에 사는 소녀 키리에는 어릴 때부터의 친구였던 슈이치와 연인 사이로 발전한다. 슈이치는 최근 자신의 아버지가 이상해졌다는 말을 하며 함께 마을을 떠나자고 한다. 이후 키리에의 주변에서 이상한 일들이 벌어지기 시작한다. 한편 도예가인 키리에의 아버지에게 소용돌이 문양의 접시를 부탁한 슈이치의 아버지는 소용돌이 모양과 관련된 갖가지 물건들을 방이 가득찰 정도로 수집한 끝에, 결국 세탁기 속에서 소용돌이 모양으로 꼬여진 시체로 발견된다. 또한 슈이치의 어머니도 슈이치의 아버지를 화장하던 중 굴뚝에서 나오는 연기가 소용돌이 모양으로 바뀌는 모습을 보고 쇼크로 병원에 입원한다. 이러한 현상은 마을에 전염병처럼 퍼지기 시작하는데...
