The man, having become familiar, proposes a real estate deal in the dark continent. This is a project for the construction in Malindi of a resort with villas and swimming pools, designed for the western market. Lorenzo is disinterested and skeptical, while Sandro is enthusiastic. However, they discover that the place where the complex will be built is a mission that deals with helping children. 혁명을 꿈꾸었던 테러리스트 현대사를 뒤흔든 테러리스트, 그들의 이야기! 1967년 6월 2일 서독. 이란의 전제군주 방문 반대집회에서 한 대학생이 경찰의 총격에 죽는 사건을 기점으로 정부의 정책과 베트남전쟁에 반대하는 혁명 단체들의 움직임이 과격해진다. 열혈청년 ‘바더’는 동료들과 함께 백화점 폭탄테러를 일으키고, 좌파 언론인 ‘마인호프’가 이들을 옹호하고 활동에 동참하게 되면서 ‘바더 마인호프’ 테러집단이 결성된다. 정상적인 방법으로는 정부에 대항하는 게 힘들다고 판단한 이들은 테러라는 극단적인 선택을 통해 세상을 바꾸려 한다. 갈수록 대담해져가는 테러활동에 세상은 등을 돌리지만, 아이러니하게도 이들과 싸우는 연방경찰국장 호르스트는 이들을 이해하게 된다. 도대체 무엇이 그들을 역사상 가장 악명 높았던 테러리스트로 만든 걸까? *독일 적군파 (RAF: Red Army Faction) ‘안드레아스 바더’와 ‘울리케 마인호프’가 주축이 되어 결성한 급진적 혁명단체. 나치 잔재 청산과 반자본주의를 기치로 폭탄테러와 방화, 비행기 납치 등을 일으켜 전세계에 큰 충격을 주었다. 역사상 가장 급진적이고 파괴적인 테러단체로 손꼽힌다.

영화는 1966년부터 2003년까지의 시간이 로마 중류층 가정 카라티의 두 형제 니콜라와 마테오를 축으로 보여준다. 니콜라(루이지 로 카시오)는 침착하고 다정하고 쾌활한 의대생이며 마테오(알레시오 보니)는 반항적이고 격정적인 철학도이다. 형제는 모두 자유와 사회개혁을 꿈꾸는 이상주의자이다. 둘은 서로 극단적으로 상반된 길을 가고 두 형제의 삶과 국가의 소용돌이치는 역사가 서로 뒤엉킨다.
60년대 플로렌스 대홍수 복구사업장에서 정신과 의사 공부를 하는 니콜라와 순간적으로 대학을 중퇴하고 군인이 된 마테오가 헤어졌다 오랜만에 다시 만난다. 여기서 니콜라는 허무주의 정치사상을 가지고 후에 테러단 붉은 연대와 관계를 맺는 아름다운 음악학도 줄리아(소니아 베르가마스코)와 사랑에 빠지고 그녀는 나중에 니콜라의 아내가 된다.
두 형제의 재회의 기쁨은 얼마가지 못하고 다시 둘은 헤어진다. 또 니콜라는 이탈리아 북부 투린의 대학으로 전학을 가고 여기서 일어나는 격렬한 노동투쟁에 끼여든다. 한편 경찰이 된 마테오가 시위진압에 투입되면서 다시 두 형제는 서로 정반대 편에 서서 만난다. 영화는 니콜라와 마테오 그리고 이들의 친구와 가족과 주변 인물들을 둘러싸고 붉은 연대의 테러, 나라를 뒤흔든 정치 스캔들, 시실리의 반마피아 운동 그리고 월드컵 축구 등 굵직굵직한 이탈리아의 역사들이 커다란 그림을 그린다.

Antonio is a man born with unusually large incisors; his freakishly huge teeth made him an outcast as a child and as man he has become obsessive and controlling in his relationships with women. Convinced that his girlfriend cheated on him (with her dentist, ça va sans dire), Antonio insults her in a fit of anger and in the fight she breaks off one of his teeth. Antonio now must travel across the country, going from dentist to dentist in search of someone who can make a crown that will suit his extra-large smile.
