A lonely researcher doubting his own existence builds an android which looks exactly like himself.

A trans woman works and lives in Tokyo with colleagues who understand her, but there remains an underlying lack of confidence and feeling of unfulfillment. She makes the decision to contact an old classmate from her high school days when returning home on a business trip, hoping that they will see her for the person she is now.

Masao (Kokone Sasaki) was once famous for having supernatural powers, but she now lives as a prostitute. Her special power is to know when a person will die by touching them. Masao has sex with men about to die. One day, a man named Tachibana (Shima Ohnishi) appears in front of her and expresses his wish to film her. In reality, Tachibana wants to take revenge on her. His wife killed herself after learning from Masao that she would die. Tachibana though becomes attracted to Masao.

술 때문에 엄청난 빚을 지고 늘 바람을 피우지만 어쩐지 미워할 수 없는 매력에 뛰어난 재능을 지닌 방탕한 소설가 오타니(아사노 타다노부)와 그런 못난 남편에게 우롱당하면서도 지극정성으로 감싸 안는 아내 사치(마츠 다카코)의 사랑 이야기. 오타니의 애인에 히로스에 료코, 사치를 좋아하는 순진한 청년에 츠마부키 사토시가 출연을 했다. 2009 몬트리올 국제 영화제 감독상 수상. 채도가 낮은 색감의 1940년대 도쿄 풍경과 카메라 워크가 마치 오즈 야스지로의 초기 영화를 떠올리게 하며, 일본에서 개봉 시 “다자이 문학의 정취를 재현하는데 부족함이 없다”는 평가를 얻었다.

A young woman escapes from a city in the near future, where people's anger is medically controlled, and drifts away to a lonely island. It is the developer of the emotion-controlling medicine who finds her and marries her. Her memory is erased and she starts an entirely new quiet life as a different person. A few years ago, when Tomomi (Hiroko Akune) was on the way home from school, she saw her friend Keiko (Misaki Mori) about to be raped by a man. Tomomi hit the man in the head with a stone and saved Keiko. In the present, Keiko, has buried her past, sells her body in Tokyo. One day, Keiko is contacted by Tomomi. They haven't spoken since their high school graduation. They meet and Keiko lets Tomomi stay at her apartment. Soon, the bizarre lives of the two women begins, with Tomomi also selling her body.

Prostitutes in burnt out Tokyo ghetto of post-WWII Japan peddle their flesh and save one-third of their money for a proposed dancehall to be named Paradise. The hookers live in a bombed-out building, but they accept the precarious situation with typical resolve.

The background is Yuraku-cho in Tokyo and the film shows how desperately the women, who had led sheltered lives before the war, struggled to keep alive and the innate strength of post-war women.

Nakata (Keiichiro Akagi) is a nihilistic young buck who is willing to do anything to get money in his pockets. As he knocks back a couple drinks that he knows he won't be able to afford, a former marksman-turned-bad, Ishioka approaches him. Ishioka is looking for an unaffiliated hit-man who is willing to handle some business. Nakata is just the right man for the job.

Shigeki Kachi, Tosuke Satomura, and Nanako, who belong to the theater company Vuanbert around Dosa, withdrew at the indignation of the chairman Hayashi and seeked their own careers in the film industry.

Mikami, a Japanese soldier, is captured by Chinese forces. Although able to escape, he is treated with contempt by his peers. After falling in love with a prostitute named Harumi, she convinces him to desert the army and live with her. Directed by Senkichi Taniguchi with a screenplay by Taniguchi and Akira Kurosawa and assistant direction by Ishiro Honda. Kurosawa's final credit as a screenwriter was removed from initial release due to various rewrites.
