섹스 중독자로 찍힌 ‘미치’는 일하던 신문사에서 해고된 후 일자리를 구하러 다니다가 한 잡지사에서 좋은 기사를 쓰면 취직을 시켜 주겠다는 제안을 받고 기사로 쓸 만한 특별한 이야깃거리를 찾아 다닌다. 그러던 어느 날 미치는 술집에 갔다가 ‘나탈리’를 만난다. 나탈리는 돈을 받고 몸을 파는 ‘에스코트걸’이다. 미치는 스탠퍼드 대학을 나와서 성매매를 하는 나탈리의 인생에 관심을 갖기 시작했고, 나탈리의 이야기를 기사로 쓰기 위해 그녀와 함께 다니며 일상을 관찰하기로 한다.
