Jason Lester is a filmmaker & photographer from Los Angeles, CA. In 2018, he wrote and directed High Resolution, a feature adaptation of Tao Lin's critically acclaimed novel Taipei. Jason's work has been featured in Nowness, The New York Times, Billboard, Dazed & Confused, V Magazine, Pitchfork, Under The Radar, DIY Mag, Clash Music, The Fader, and Stereogum. Selected music videos include credits for Ashe, Animal Collective, Phoebe Bridgers, Madison Beer, Lauv, Sabrina Carpenter, OneRepublic, Wallows, Rostam, Julia Michaels, Bebe Rexha, & Conan Gray, amongst others. He holds a BFA with Honors in Film Production from the Tisch School of the Arts at New York University.

To highlight the disconnect between the fantasy of Los Angeles and the lived reality for many of its citizens, a computerized voice gives a dispassionate monologue over imagery that explores the truth of a city after the tourists, luxury stores and entertainment are removed from the streets. Through silent vignettes, the film leaves us with images of homelessness, and comments on the shallowness of capitalism and the hypocrisy of multiculturalism.

집단 성폭행이라는 과거의 충격적인 기억으로부터 벗어나기 위해 정신과 치료를 받던 ‘안젤라’는 주치의의 제안으로 그룹치료 프로그램에 참여하기로 한다. 비슷한 경험을 가진 사람들과 자신의 이야기를 나누며 정신적인 상처를 치료해 나가는 그 자리에서 안젤라는 비슷한 처지에 있는 ‘말라’라는 여성을 알게 되고 말라의 강하고 정의로운 성격에 끌려 두 사람은 급속도로 친해진다. 그러던 어느 날, 전 남자친구를 만나러 갔던 말라가 시체로 발견되고, 유력한 용의자로 전 남자친구가 구속되지만 증거불충분으로 곧 풀려나자 안젤라는 주체할 수 없는 분노의 감정을 느끼게 되는데...

할리우드 스타이자 과거 액션 히어로였던 콜튼 웨스트는 LA에서 집에 가던 중 대형 지진을 경험한다. 단순 지진이 아닌 전대미문의 화산 폭발이 발생하면서 용암을 내뿜는 거미인 라바란툴라가 등장해 LA 일대는 혼란에 빠진다. 사람만 한 몸집의 거대한 라바란툴라는 보이는 대로 사람들을 공격하고 아들과 연락이 되지 않는 콜튼은 목숨을 걸고 총을 들고 거리로 나선다. 아들을 구하고 흩어진 가족을 모으려던 콜튼은 LA를 버리고 도망치는 것보다는 맞서 싸우기로 결심하고 슈퍼 히어로 경험을 살려 제작진과 함께 LA 전체를 살릴 계획을 세우는데...
