'시청자의 의뢰를 받아 유령을 쫓아내는 인기 방송 프로그램 ‘고스트헌터’. 그러나 실상은 유령을 쫓는 흉내만 내는 사기극이다. 이 팀의 멤버인 샘, 로이드, 케이트, 하비에르는 가족처럼 끈끈한 관계. 하지만 갈수록 떨어지는 시청률에 제작자는 특단의 조치를 내린다. 바로 멕시코에서 가장 악명 높은 폐가로 이들을 보내는 것. 그들은 결국 새로운 멤버 아브릴, 밥과 함께 멕시코로 향한다. 폐가에 도착하자마자 뭔가 이상한 낌새를 느끼는 로이드. 그리고 밥과 하비에르는 갑작스레 뭔가에 의해 살해된다. 다행히 그들은 특수장비로 유령이 된 하이에르와 소통을 하게 되고, 저택에는 억울하게 죽은 유령 가족이 살고 있음을 알게 된다. 그 유령 가족의 가장 곤살로임이 사람들을 죽였음을 밝혀내고, 그를 없애야만 폐가에서 살아나올 수 있다는 것도 알게 된다. 샘의 약혼녀 케이트가 곤살로에게 인질로 잡히고, 그들은 곤살로와 대결을 펼친다. 멤버들 모두 목숨을 잃을 절체절명의 순간, 곤살로의 아내 로자 유령이 남편을 처단한다. 곤살로가 사라지자 이제 평화를 되찾은 세 유령은 빛 속으로 사라진다. 하비에르 역시 빛 속을 통과해 이승을 떠나려 하지만 시간을 놓쳐버리고 이 세상에 남는다. 이날 이후 새롭게 거듭난 고스터헌터팀은 진짜 유령 사냥에 분주해진다.
