Theatre Colosseum prepares for the closing performance of the month. The magician Keats wants to avoid having to perform with Jack Carey, the well-known marksman, as the latter has seduced his wife, the beautiful dancer, Silvia Castellani. It is only thanks to the persuasions of Alice McLean, the manager of the acrobat sisters, that he finally decides to do his show. Carey starts wooing the second of the McLean-sisters, Gloria.

프랑크 베데킨트의 연작 희곡 과 를 각색한 무성 멜로드라마 걸작. 신문사 사장인 쇤 박사는 정부인 룰루에게 호화로운 아파트를 마련해준 한편, 내무부 장관의 딸과 결혼을 준비하고 있다. 하지만 박사의 내연관계를 알게 된 장관은 결혼을 허락하지 않고, 욕심 많고 어린애 같은 룰루 또한 장관의 딸을 포기하고 자신과 결혼하라고 조른다. 결국 쇤 박사는 어쩔 수 없이 룰루와 결혼하기로 하는데, 결혼식 당일 그는 자신의 아들을 포함한 모든 하객들이 룰루와 관계를 가졌다는 사실을 알게 된다. 격분한 박사는 권총을 휘두르며 하객들을 쫓아낸 후 룰루에게 동반자살을 권한다. 그러나 룰루는 박사를 쏜 후 프랑스를 거쳐 런던까지 도망가는데... 천진함과 음란함을 동시에 지니고 남자들을 파멸로 이끌어가는 유혹적인 여성을 통해 가부장적인 남성의 판타지를 보여주고 있는 영화. 할리우드의 무성영화 스타 루이즈 브룩스가 주연을 맡아 두려우면서도 결코 거부할 수 없는 팜므파탈의 매력을 유감없이 선보이고 있다.

Sally Meyer, a young Berliner, persuades his Doctor to convince his wife that he is ill, so that he is able to take a holiday in the Austrian Alps in order to pursue women. Meyer dresses up in what he considers Tyrolean attire. However, he mistakenly travels to the Bavarian Alps rather than Austria. Meyer becomes infatuated with Kitty, a young, attractive woman at the hotel where he is staying. His pursuit of her angers many of her other suitors who are also staying at the hotel. In order to impress Kitty, Meyer agrees rather reluctantly to climb Mount Watzmann. While they are approaching the summit, both Meyer's wife and Kitty's fiancee unexepectedly arrive from Berlin.
