노리코는 아내를 잃고 혼자된 아버지 소미야 교수를 돌보며 행복하게 살고 있지만, 소미야 교수와 고모 마사는 노리코의 장래를 염려한다. 아버지를 홀로 두고 자신만의 행복을 위해 시집가기를 꺼려 하는 딸을 위해 아버지와 고모는 마치 아버지가 재혼하려는 것처럼 노리코를 속인다. 재혼을 결심한 아버지에게 배신감을 느낀 노리꼬는 사다께와 선보기로 결심한다. 사다께를 마음에 들어 하면서도 아버지에 대한 서운함과 그를 남겨두고 떠나야 한다는 사실에 괴로워한다.
