도쿄 상류층에서 자라난 하나코, 그리고 지방의 작은 마을에서 태어나 도쿄에서 간신히 생계를 유지하며 살아가고 있는 미키. 지극히 다른 출신 배경을 가진 20대 후반의 두 여자는 한 남자를 계기로 만나게 되고, 서로 다른, 그러나 같은 세계를 발견한다.

매일 화가 나있는 것 같은 아이 카코(니카이도 후미)가 살고 있는 집에 18년 전 죽었다고 알려진 이모 미키코(코이즈미 쿄코)가 나타난다. 그녀에게 아무런 기억이 없는 카코, 하지만 집에서는 미키코를 카코와 같은 방을 쓰게 하면서 카코는 또다시 뾰롱퉁해지고 만다. 그러면서도 뭔가 이상한 카코의 집 안. 할머니는 자신의 장녀에게 죽은 것이냐는 질문을 던지고, 이모를 보는 아버지의 눈매는 어딘가 수상쩍기만하다. 그러던 어느 날, 카코와 미키코는 한 바탕 싸움을 한 후, 사이좋게 폭탄을 제조한다. 그리고 밝혀지는 카코의 출생 비밀. 전혀 놀랍지 않은 비밀이지만, 카코는 어느샌가 미키코에게 유대감을 느끼고 있다. 18년 만에 나타난 이모로 인해서 떠들석해지는 카코의 이야기. 과연 운하 속에는 악어가 살고 있는 것이며, 카코가 짝사랑하는 야스노리(코라 켄고)의 정체는 무엇일까? 지금 카코의 불쾌했던 과거가 시작된다.

A trio of journalists receive a mysterious DVD from an unknown source. The young woman journalist decides to watch the DVD and disappears. Her two friends begin an investigation into her disappearance that turns up a video she shot while watching the DVD they received in the mail. Upon viewing it appears she was not alone in her apartment. Who is the mystery woman seen only in a reflection and what caused the young lady to commit suicide?

Kawamoto works and lives in a dilapidated pool hall which also serves as a rehearsal space for him and his friend Chikako. They seem contented to while away their hours doing nothing much at all. Meanwhile, an old pool shark meets some people from his past that he is none too happy to see again. How will this affect their private haven?
