Schtonk! is a farce of the actual events of 1983, when Germany's Stern magazine published, with great fanfare, 60 volumes of the alleged diaries of Adolf Hitler – which two weeks later turned out to be entirely fake. Fritz Knobel (based on real-life forger Konrad Kujau) supports himself by faking and selling Nazi memorabilia. When Knobel writes and sells a volume of Hitler's (nonexistent) diaries, he thinks it's just another job. When sleazy journalist Hermann Willié learns of the diaries, however, he quickly realizes their potential value... and Knobel is quickly in over his head. As the pressure builds and Knobel is forced to deliver more and more volumes of the fake diaries, he finds himself acting increasingly like the man whose life he is rewriting. The film is a romping and hilarious satire, poking fun not only at the events and characters involved in the hoax (who are only thinly disguised in the film), but at the discomfort Germany has with its difficult past.
The political drama is set in the Stalin's Soviet Union after the Second World War. A British archaeologist Andrei Miller is working in Iran. He is mistakenly kidnapped and arrested by the KGB. He is falsely accused of spying and wrongfully sentenced to a Gulag prison-camp in Siberia.

The film subliminally addresses the then-prevalent issue of a divided Germany. 서른 여섯 해라는 짧은 생애에 만든 마흔 한편의 논쟁적인 영화들 중 파스빈더의 최고 걸작이라고 말할 수 있다. 세계 2차 대전이 끝나고 경제 기적을 만들어낸 독일사회의 병폐를 온 몸으로 겪으면서 자라난 파스빈더는 이 시기 자본주의가 빚어낸 모순과 타락한 인간상을 다수의 영화에서 다룬 바 있다. 조셉 폰 스텐버그의 에서 이야기의 뼈대를 가져온 에는 살아있는 색깔, 한 씬 내내 원을 그리며 도는 특이한 카메라 움직임, 팬으로 길게 움직이는 등이 멜로드라마의 틀 안에서 우화적으로 사용된다. 반자본주의적인 조악한(?) 영화형식과 너무나 염세적인 결말은 내내 영화를 보고 마지막 화면을 맞이하는 관객으로 하여금 가슴 서늘하게 한다. 그러나 파스빈더의 말대로 세상은 여전히 타락해 있고 가난한 자와 힘없는 자들이 설 자리는 여전히 없다는 점에서 파스빈더가 염세적인 것이 아니라 세상이, 인간이 시니컬하다는 것을 새삼 다시 절감하게 한다. 마음이 아프다.

Under the name of his jail buddy Henry, he moves in with his pen pal - who has never seen him - and is always watched suspiciously by their roommate. He is not without talent and works on a novel in which he minutely describes the abduction of an industrialist. Henry gets shot at the prison breakout and visits Nik to get help from him. 작은 도시의 명망있는 집안의 에피 브리스트는 파티 등을 열며 재미있는 나날을 보낸다. 그녀는 프로이센 주의원인 20세 연상의 인스테텐 남작과 결혼한다. 출세 지향적이고 엄격한 남편과의 결혼 생활에서 외로움을 느끼던 에피 브리스트는 매력있는 크람파스 대령과 짧으나 낭만적인 연애를 한다. 6년뒤 베를린 내각의 장관이 된 남작은 이 사실을 우연히 알게 된다. 인스테텐 남작은 에피 브리스트를 용서하고 싶은 마음이 있음에도 불구하고 사회의 통념상 부인의 불륜을 발견한 남편으로서 해야 할 마땅한 행동을 취하고 만다. 남작은 권총 결투에서 크람파스 대령을 죽이고 아내와 이혼한 후 아이는 자신이 맡는다. 이혼당한 에피 브리스트는 충격을 받은 양친으로부터 거부당하고 고립속에서 괴로움과 수치를 느끼며 파멸해 간다. 죽기 전 그녀는 남편을 용서한다.
