After midnight on a bridge not linking neighborhoods but dividing them, eighteen year old basketball phenom Marcus Jennings was taken out. Celebrity attracts the good the bad and the ugly, not always clearly defined, but in the end, it was what they all had in common that ended Marcus's life ... fear. 1971년 뉴욕, 블랙팬더 소속의 열혈 활동가인 아페니(다나이 구리라)는 훗날 투팍으로 불릴 아이를 낳는다. 어린 시절부터 당당하게 살라는 어머니의 말을 들으며 자란 투팍(드미트리어스 십 주니어)은 셰익스피어와 음악에 관심이 많은 청년이었지만 가난과 흑인에 대한 사회 편견은 그를 결국 마약과 폭력의 세계로 밀어넣는다. 그러나 투팍은 포기하지 않고 음악을 통해 자신의 삶을 개척하려 한다. 흑인들의 삶의 애환을 보고 자란 투팍은 온갖 관습에 저항하고 사회문제에 목소리를 높이며 전무후무한 힙합의 아이콘이 된다.
