인구가 215명뿐인 작은 외딴 마을에서 한 남자가 차 사고로 숨지게 된다. 망연자실한 마을 사람들은 비극의 전말과 관련하여 이야기하기를 꺼린다. 그 시점부터 그의 가족을 비롯한 몇몇 사람들에게 시간은 이제 아무 의미를 갖지 못하게 되고, 하루하루는 기약 없이 늘어져만 간다.
