약력

Wei Shujun, a native of Beijing, a young director born in the 1990s, graduated from Communication University of China. He is the youngest Chinese director to be shortlisted for the Busan Film Festival. In May 2018, "On the Border" directed by him won the Special Mention Award in the Short Film Competition at the 71st Cannes Film Festival. In June 2020, his directed work "野马分鬃" was shortlisted for the 73rd Cannes Film Festival.

상하이의 필름스쿨에 다니면서 영화 음향기사로 일하는 쿤은 가진 돈을 모두 털어 낡은 지프차를 구입했다. 운전면허도 따기 전이었지만 차부터 덜컥 사게 된 것은 그 차가 내몽고 평원을 질주하던 녀석이라는 딜러의 말에 혹했기 때문이다. 한편 쿤의 여자친구 쯔는 중국문학을 전공하는 학생인데, 홍콩에 갈 돈을 모으기 위해 레이싱 모델로 일한다. 초원을 달리고 싶은 쿤과 디즈니랜드를 동경하는 쯔, 홍상수와 왕가위의 ‘예술’을 꿈꾸지만 배우의 일당과 스태프의 도시락 값을 아까워하는 영화감독 밍과 촬영감독 펭, 필름스쿨 교수이지만 현장경험은 없는 선생 등이 영화의 인물들이다.
