Wei Shujun, a native of Beijing, a young director born in the 1990s, graduated from Communication University of China. He is the youngest Chinese director to be shortlisted for the Busan Film Festival. In May 2018, "On the Border" directed by him won the Special Mention Award in the Short Film Competition at the 71st Cannes Film Festival. In June 2020, his directed work "野马分鬃" was shortlisted for the 73rd Cannes Film Festival.
