2001년 시각 장애인 최초로 에베레스트를 등정한 눈먼 탐험가 에릭 웨이헨메이어가 새로운 형태의 모험에 도전했다. 바로 솔로 카약을 타고 팀원들과 함께 21일 동안 그랜드 캐니언 콜로라도 협곡을 종단한 것. 회오리치며 하얗게 부서지는 용암 폭포를 몇 차례나 항해해야 하는 그랜드 캐니언에서 솔로 카약을 타는 것은 어려운 일이다. 특히 눈이 안보이는 경우는 더더욱. 예기치 않게 움직이는 물 위를 가로지르며 에릭은 상실과 공포와 불안에 직면하지만, 자신에게 다가오는 물의 무게를 온전하게 느끼며 최고의 팀워크로 결국 승리한다.

It is the story of ordinary citizens whose lives play out in the shadow of superpowers. There are tales of violence to be sure, but there is also love and even romance. Based on 14 trips to Afghanistan between 1994 and 2010, A Darkness Visible: Afghanistan is the work of renowned photojournalist Seamus Murphy. His work chronicles a people caught time and again in political turmoil, struggling to find their way.
