Annas
미국성서공회에서 발간한 Good News Bible 성서번역판의 요한 복음을 구절 구절 그대로 각본 처리한 영화로 장장 세 시간에 걸쳐 사도요한의 눈으로 본 예수의 사역이 화면을 통해 다가오는 감동적인 종교영화이다. 크리스토퍼 플러머가 서술자를 맡았으며 영국의 세익스피안 배우 헨리 이안 쿠섹이 예수의 역할을 맡았다. 요한 복음은 성경에서 역사상 가장 많이 번역되고 읽혀진 내용인데 이 영화는 스페인에서 약 2천여 명의 엑스트라와 함께 촬영되었고 성서적 의상, 신약시대의 주거환경 및 풍경을 사실적으로 묘사하기 위해 많은 노력이 기울여 진 것을 알 수 있다. 영화비평가들 중엔 이 영화를 품위 있는 주일학교용 영화일 뿐이라고도 표현했는데, 뛰어난 영상과 신약시대의 악기를 사용한 음향 및 깔끔한 스토리 진행은 지금까지 제작된 예수 그리스도의 생애를 그린 영화 중 가장 고대하던 영화라고 해도 과언이 아닐 것이다.

스파이더(랄프 파인즈)는 오랜 세월을 정신 병원에서 보내다가 지역사회로 돌아가기 위한 절차로 윌킨슨 부인이 운영하는 사회 복귀 시설에 오게 된다. 알아들을 수 없는 소리로 중얼거리며 끊임없이 메모를 하면서 거리를 헤매고 다니던 그는 30년전 자신이 살던 집 앞에 다다르게 되고 10살 소년 시절의 과거로 되돌아가 자기 자신을 바라보게 된다. 그는 배관공인 아버지(가브리엘 번)와 조용한 갈색머리의 어머니(미란다 리차드슨) 밑에서 자랐다. 아버지는 퉁명스럽고 성질 급하고 주로 펍에서 시간을 보내는 등 가정적이지 않은데 반해 어머니는 친절하고 자애로우며, 아버지와 함께 외출할때나 겨우 립스틱 정도를 바르는 소박함을 지녔을 뿐 아니라 어린 스파이더(브래들리 홀)에게는 거의 절대적인 위치를 차지하는 완벽한 엄마다. 그러나 스파이더는 펍에서 만난 금발의 매춘부(미란다 리차드슨)가 아버지를 유혹해 섹스를 하게 되고 어머니 자리를 빼앗는걸 목격하고는 다음이 자기 차례라는 두려움에 떨게 되고 모종의 계획을 세우게 되는데…

It's Christmas Eve in Wales. A young boy named Thomas is excited about the holiday, but he's also disappointed because it's raining instead of snowing. His grandfather gives him an old snow globe as an early Christmas present and starts telling colorful, amusing stories about his childhood Christmases that are shown in flashback. Thomas keeps asking his grandfather more questions because he likes the stories and because he doesn't want to go to bed. His parents finally insist that he go to bed, and his grandfather tells him one last story about going to bed on Christmas night while listening to his family singing carols downstairs. After Thomas falls asleep at last, his grandfather opens the bedroom window and sees falling snowflakes.

An English woman, psychotic and sexually repressed, murders her sadistic father, then moves to America. She soon secures a job as a maid for a wealthy family. Soon her severe psychosis and her attempts to keep her sexuality from asserting itself combine to cause trouble for all concerned.

He takes on a new job and enters into new relationships, but his sister pursues him in a cat and mouse game, getting into trouble in the city's seedy underground. In a series of flashbacks, we discover the reasons for his initial departure, as he and his sister try to find a peaceful resolution to their feelings about each other.
