음대에 다니는 "하시모토 코우(橋本巧)"는 오토바이 "카와사키 W3"를 타고 "프레스 라이더(보도기관전문 퀵서비스)" 아르바이트를 하고 있었다. "코우"는 장거리주행 휴가중에 우연히 만난 아름다운 여성 "시라이시 미요코(白石美代子)"..., "미요(ミーヨ)"와 사랑을 하게 된다. "미요"는 "코우"의 오토바이에 강한 흥미를 느끼고, 이륜면허를 취득하여 점점 오토바이에 빠져들어 간다. "미요"는 "코우"가 혀를 내두를 정도로 오토바이에 대한 센스를 보이고, 결국에는 대형이륜면허마저 취득한다. 하지만, 두 사람은 오토바이 문제로 다투게 되고, "미요"는 자신의 고향인 세토나이카이(瀬戸内海)의 섬으로 떠나간다. "코우"는 뒤늦게 그녀의 섬으로 향하는데...

카타자와가의 네 자매는 부모님이 돌아가신 후 쿄토의 철학의 길 근처에서 살고 있다. 그러던 어느 날 장녀 아야만이 키타자와가의 아이일 뿐 다른 세 자매는 시설의 경영 부진으로 보모를 하고 있던 키타자와 치요에게 맡겨진 것이라는 사실을 알게 된다. 네 자매의 사랑과 청춘을 그린 오요야마 카즈에의 동명 만화를 오바야시 노부히코 감독이 영화화하였다. 일본 드라마를 좋아하는 관객이라면 1999년부터 방영되고 있는 일본판 CSI 〈과수연의 여자〉의 주인공 사카키 마리코를 연기하는 사와구치 야스코의 20대의 풋풋한 모습에 놀랄 것이다.

한 평온한 학교에 거대한 태풍이 몰려온다. 태풍이 가까워져옴에 따라 학생들은 억눌렸던 본성을 서서히 분출한다. 소녀들이 키스하고, 소년은 짝사랑했던 소녀를 강간하려 한다. 아이들은 흥분상태에서 춤을 추고, 옷을 벗고 밖으로 뛰어나가 미친 듯이 뛴다.

파산한 출판사 사장 무라키는 돈을 받으러 온 조폭들에게 부인이 강간당하는 모습을 목격한다. 절망한 그는 여자를 강간하고 자신 역시 자살하기로 결심하지만, 호텔에서 부른 콜걸 나미로 인해 마음을 바꾼다. 2년 뒤, 택시 운전을 하던 중 우연하게 다시 나미를 만나고, 호텔에서의 일을 이야기한다.

소심한 성격의 고등학생 히로키는 사진 촬영이 취미이다. 그날도 카메라를 든 채 시간을 보내던 히로키는 우연히 아름다운 소녀를 만나 마음을 빼앗긴다. 그런데 바로 그날, 히로키의 눈에만 보이는 또다른 소녀가 등장한다. 얼굴을 하얗게 칠한 이 소녀의 정체는 과연 무엇일까? 만화적인 표현과 유머러스한 상황이 돋보이는 코미디.

화재로 파괴된 도시에 관한 신문 기사를 읽은 후, 에구치는 논문을 쓰기 위해 보낸 여름을 회상하게 된다. 그 곳은 "일본의 베니스"로 불리는, 아름다운 운하가 있는 마을이었다. 마을에 도착한 그를 맞이한 것은 야스코였다. 그녀의 다른 가족들은 보이지 않았다. 첫날밤에 에구치는 우는 소리를 들었다. 그 이유를 찾으면서 자신이 한 가족을 분열시키고 있다는 갈등에 빠져 든다. 그는 꿈같은 마을이라고 생각했지만 일부 주민은 그런 그를 비웃는다. 파멸과 죽음만이 유일한 미래라는 생각이 그들을 지배하고 있었다.

중학생 소녀 가즈코는 친구들인 고로, 가즈오와 함께 과학실 청소를 하다가 플라스크에서 올라온 강한 라벤더향을 맡고 정신을 잃는다. 사흘 후, 가즈코의 주위에는 이상한 사건들이 일어나기 시작한다. 한밤중에 지진이 일어나서 고로의 집이 불에 타고, 다음날 아침 고로와 함께 교통사고를 당하는 순간, 전날 아침으로 되돌간다.

변호사를 꿈꾸며 규슈에서 도쿄의 명문학교로 진학한 고교생 유스케. 삼촌 집에 살게 된 유스케는 방을 한 칸 내놓았는데, 소개인의 실수로 인해 여고생 케이가 들어오게 된다. 1개월 조건으로 함께 살기로 한 두 사람. 같은 공간에서 생활하면서 서로에 대해 호감을 가지게 되지만 좋아한다는 말은 꺼내지는 못한다. 그러던 중 같은 반 친구 스기무라와 나카야마가 두 사람 사이에 끼어들면서 그들의 미묘한 감정의 파장은 깊어만 간다.

아주 오랜 옛날 불새(봉황)과 함께 했던 시절, 불새의 피를 마시면 영원히 산다는 전설을 위해 불새를 잡기위해 동분서주 했던 사람들. 더 살기 위해 몸부림쳐야해고 살아남으려 노력했던 이들. 잃지 않기 위해 불새의 피를 원했던 이들의 이야기!
