The Story of an Encounter is a documentary that captures the unexpected encounter between México and Cirque du Soleil creators in the mist of the creation of LUZIA, Cirque du Soleil next big top show. It is a cultural and intimate story of the meeting of creative minds seen through personal interactions and relationship building of the show creators. Filmed in Mexico City, Tijuana, Oaxaca and Montréal, this series features: Daniele Finzi Pasca (Co-author and Director of LUZIA), Patricia Ruel (Direction of Creation), Simon Carpentier (Composer), Eugenio Caballero (Set and Props Designer) as well as Majo Cornejo and Rodrigo de la Mora (Musicians).
LUZIA takes you to an imaginary Mexico, like in a waking dream, where light (“luz” in Spanish) quenches the spirit and rain (“lluvia”) soothes the soul. With a surrealistic series of grand visual surprises and breathtaking acrobatic performances, LUZIA cleverly brings to the stage multiple places, faces and sounds of Mexico taken from both tradition and modernity.

‘코르테오’는 이태리어로 예식 또는 행렬을 의미한다 어릿광대의 상상이 빚어낸 즐거운 향연과 축제 분위기가 가득한 퍼레이드로 구성된다. 배우들의 열정과 곡예가 어우러진 코르테오는 지상과 천상을 아우르는 초현실적인 공간을 무대로 펼치지며 극 형식의 즐거움과 웃음이 가득한 세계로 관객을 안내한다. 광대는 자신의 장례식을 상상한다. 카니발 축제 속에서 거행되는 장례행렬을 수호천사들이 내려다 본다. 큰 것과 작은 것의 조화, 희극과 비극의 공존, 코르테오는 완벽함과 미완을 같은 공간의 위치하게 하면서 어릿광대의 강인한 면모와 섬세한 내면을 표현한다. 슬기로우면서도 한편으로는 순한 성격을 필두로 우리 모두에게 내재된 인간성을 그려낸다. 코르테오의 서정성 가득한 음악이 시공을 초월한 축하연에 경쾌한 리듬을 더할 때 마침내 비현실은 현실이 되고 축제는 일상이 된다. 태양의 서커스 무대 중에서도 스토리가 있어 여러 퍼포먼스 전개가 자연스럽고 한편의 뮤지컬을 보는 것과 같은 느낌을 준다.
