2007년 아프가니스탄 카불에 설립된 비영리재단 ‘스케이티스탄’은 5~25세의 여자아이와 젊은 여성에게 스케이트보드를 가르치고 있다. 스케이티스탄은 단순히 빈민층 소녀들에게 스케이트보드를 가르칠 뿐만 아니라, 그들이 교실 밖 삶 속에서도 차별에 저항할 수 있는 용기와 가치관을 갖도록 돕는 것을 목표로 한다. 스케이트보드 수업을 통해 소녀들은 보드의 즐거움과 함께 학교 선생님들의 따뜻함과 영감을 배워가며 성장한다.
