Hsin Chiang-Sheng

타이페이를 배경으로 세 젊은이의 사랑과 고독을 표현한 영화. 부동산 중개회사 직원인 메이, 납골당 판매원인 소강, 불법 노점상인 아정은 우연히 빈 아파트에서 조우하게 된다. 그러나 세 사람 사이에는 그 어떠한 사랑도 존재하지 않는다. 거의 대사가 없는 영화로 인물들의 고독이 극명하게 표현되어 있다. 영화에서 빈 집과 떠도는 주인공들의 감정은 가족붕괴로 인한 고독감을 느끼게 한다. 영화 후반, 메이가 울음을 터뜨리는 긴 지속시간의 장면이 특별한 느낌을 선사한다.

1965년, 광산촌에서 자란 ‘완’은 15세 때 타이페이로 떠나 인쇄공장에서 일을 시작한다. 그리고 고향 여자친구인 ‘후엔’도 다음해에 타이페이로 온다. 그들은 가족을 부양하고 학비를 마련하기 위해 힘겨운 생활을 꾸려가지만 행복을 잃지 않으려 애쓴다. 완과 친구들은 하나 둘씩 입영 영장을 받게 된다. 결국 완도 자신의 일을 그만두고 입대하게 된다. 완과 후엔은 결혼까지 약속한 사이지만 제대를 앞두고 한동안 후엔의 편지는 끊긴다. 완이 군복무를 마치고 돌아왔을 때 후엔은 이미 우체부로 일하던 다른 남자와 결혼을 한 상태였다.

Bi Bao-Liang is a 29 year-old man who believes that he will have bad luck if he touches a woman before he turns thirty. Liu Xiang-mei is a beautiful woman who had a love affair with her married boss, and now she is pregnant. In order to give her child a family name, she decides to find a man to have a one-year marriage contract. Bi Bao-Liang is the perfect man she is looking for because he is afraid of women. '샌드위치 맨'은 생계를 꾸려가기 위해 피에로 분장을 하고 몸 앞뒤에 포스터가 붙은 판자를 둘러메고 극장 홍보를 하는 한 가장과 그 가족의 이야기이다. 주인공에겐 아내와 어린 아기가 있으며, 일이 끝난 후에도 피에로 분장을 거의 지우지 않고 생활을 한다. 그런 어느날 극장 주인은 피에로 일을 그만 두는 대신 삼륜차를 타고 홍보 활동을 하라고 주인공에게 시키게 된다. 피에로 분장을 지우고 아내와 아기 앞에 선 남편. 그러나 아기는 아빠를 알아보지 못하고 낯선 사람인 양 울음을 터뜨린다. 아기가 자신을 알아보지 못한다는 사실을 안 주인공은 조용히 다시 피에로 분장을 하며, 이유를 묻는 아내에게 주인공은 환히 웃으며 '난 내 아들의 인형이잖아.'라고 말하면서 영화는 끝난다.

It's the 10th century BC, the emperor (Tien Feng) is not well, and the medicines he is receiving from con artist "Immortal Li" are in reality only making him worse. There is a man in a nearby kingdom, "Divine Physician" Chang Po-chao, whom it's said could cure his epilepsy, but the only way to bribe the head of the border guard is with a new work by painter Wei Yu-pi. A substitute teacher from Taipei arrives in a country village to teach a class of mischievous students. He soon falls in love with nature, country life and a fellow teacher at the school.

A photographer travels with her boyfriend to a seaside village in Penghu. There she strikes up a relationship with a blind man. When they reencounter one another back in Taipei, where he is preparing to undergo an operation to restore his sight, their connection intensifies.

Learning of childhood friend Meihua's death, Lingling goes to Japan to find Meihua's sister, Meifeng. Brutal gangsters demand Lingling return an item Meihua stole, and hold Meifeng hostage. Old friends help Lingling confront the gang.

Peigang, his family's only son for three generations running, is to be executed on account of larceny, but not without the intervention of his grandmother.
