From Wikipedia, the free encyclopedia Derek Richardson (born January 18, 1976) is an American actor. Derek Richardson was born in Queensbury, New York. He attended Colorado College from 1994 to 1998. He began his career with guest roles on Law & Order and Strangers with Candy. Upon moving to Los Angeles in 2002, he was cast in a recurring role on J.J. Abrams' Felicity as Keri Russell's love interest. He subsequently co-starred in the Dumb and Dumber prequel, Dumb and Dumberer: When Harry Met Lloyd as a younger version of Jeff Daniels' character. Richardson starred opposite Jay Hernandez as one of the leads in the Lions Gate Entertainment horror film Hostel, directed by Eli Roth and executive-produced by Quentin Tarantino. His performance in the horror film garnered him a 2006 MTV Movie Award nomination for "Best Frightened Performance". In 2006, he began starring in the television show Men in Trees as Patrick Bachelor. 유럽으로 배낭여행을 떠난 미국인 배낭족 팩스턴과 조쉬는 여행도중 만난 올리와 함께 암스테르담에 머물던 중 알렉스라는 남자를 만난다. 그는 슬로바키아에 가면 ‘미녀와 멋진 하룻밤’을 보낼 수 있다며 어느 호스텔을 알려준다. 이들은 슬로바키아의 브라티슬라바로 향하고 그곳에서 기대 만큼이나 멋진 꿈 같은 밤을 보낸다. 하지만 그 다음날 갑자기 올리가 사라지고, 같은 호스텔에 묵고 있던 일본인 배낭여행족 유키도 행방불명이 된 것을 알게 된다. 이후 조쉬 마저 연락이 두절되자 무언가 이상한 느낌을 갖게 된 팩스턴은 친구들을 찾아 나섰다가 끔찍한 고문실에 갇히고 마는데…

인적이 드문 사막 부근의 도로, 아이와 단어 게임을 하며 운전을 하던 여자는 앞에 놓인 사슴을 보지 못하고 사고를 낸다. 앞유리를 빨갛게 덮은 피, 피를 흘리며 죽어가는 사슴. 그리고 그 옆을 지나가는 한대의 차. 갑작스러운 사고로 문을 여는 영화 는 슬래셔공포영화의 대표작 에서 모티브를 따온 작품이다. 사막으로 여행을 떠난 그레첸(티나 일만), 쿠키(에리엘 케벨), 넬슨(데렉 리처드슨), 잭(데본 구머살), 트립(스콧 와이트) 등 5명의 학생들은 호텔에 흐르는 이상한 기류에 불안해한다. 휴대폰 전파와 라디오 주파수는 잡히지 않고, 땅은 갑자기 흔들린다. 그리고 등장하는 정체불명의 살인자. 순간이동도 가능한 이 살인자는 회전되는 커터칼을 팔에 장착한 채 5명의 학생들을 위협한다. 팔이 잘려나가고, 피가 터져나오며, 사람이 하나둘 죽어나간다. 공포 장르영화의 공식을 그대로 따라가는 이 영화의 묘미는 탄탄한 드라마와 솔직한 연출에 있다. 화장실과 트럭에서의 살인장면은 쾌감을 주고, 영화 서두의 차 사고와 마지막 반전은 뫼비우스 띠처럼 묘하게 연결된다. 과감하고, 신선하며, 뒤끝이 없는 깔끔한 공포영화.
