This documentary follows the last days of actress KIKI Kirin, who passed away on September 15, 2018. The documentary is the first long-term, in-depth coverage of Ki-kin, and is a re-edited version of the NHK documentary of the same title that was broadcast on September 26, 2006, adding previously unseen footage. She was loved all over Japan for her blunt remarks, her attentive concern for those around her, and her overflowing sense of humor. Despite her busy schedule, she valued her daily life and had her own unique style, even though she talked about life as it came. This film captures the last days of her life and gives us hints for living from her "life as it comes" and her many inspiring words.

Masaru Okunishi is a prisoner who has been on death-row for over 40 years. In 1961, 5 women died from drinking poisoned wine in a small village gathering in Nabari City in Mie Prefecture. After his arrest, he appealed his innocence on the grounds that the police coerced his confession. He was found not guilty in the first trial. However, it was overturned and he received a death sentence in the second trial, which was upheld by the Supreme Court in 1972. Since then, Okunishi has continuously appealed for retrial, fighting against the horror of capital punishment. This TV dramatization of the Nabari Poisoned Wine Case depicts Okunishi in an isolated cell, his mother’s unwavering belief in his innocence, and the effort of people who have rallied to Okunishi’s defense.

네기시 키치타로 감독의 "사이드카의 개"를 보고 난 느낌은 바로 그것이다. 한 소녀의 성장기를 추억하는 이 영화에는 내러티브의 어떤 굴곡 없이 평탄한 진행을 보여준다. 그럼에도 불구하고 영화는 결코 지루하거나 따분하지 않다. 그냥 잔잔하게 펼쳐지는 한 소녀의 여름방학 기간 중 에피소드를 바라본다는 것. 이 행위 만으로도 관객은 어렴풋한 회상의 이미지들을 떠올리게 될 것이기 때문이다. 어느날 갑자기 집을 떠나버린 엄마. 그녀를 대신해 두 남매를 보살피는 젊은 여인. 순박하게만 보이는 아버지. 그리고 마침내 되돌아온 엄마. 영화는 이러한 일련의 사건들을 고통 없이 그려낸다. 네기시 키치타로 감독은 자신의 영화들에서 언제나 물어왔던 것을 이번 신작을 통해 다시 한번 반복한다. 그것은 바로‘가족’이란 사회적 조직의 근원이다. 이러한 조직 속에서 성장하는 유년은 어떤 의미일까? 그 혹은 그녀가 성인이 되었을 때 가족 인자의 존재와 부재를 바라본다면 어떤 결론이 도출될까? 는 바로 이러한 문제에 대한 네기시 키치타로 식의 접근인 것이다. 감독은 이번 영화에서도 자신의 의문에 대한 답을 쉬이 내리지 않고, 누가 타도 상관없는 바이크의 사이드카 좌석에 관객을 살포시 앉히며 스스로의 결론을 도출하도록 만든다.

Realising that that is one battle he will never win, Yasuo sends a letter to a newspaper -- “Nurses’ husbands, aren’t you having a hard time? Get together nurses’ husbands. Contact me.” There is a tremendous response. This leads to the formation of many unions of nurses’ husbands throughout the country.
