먼 미래, 지구가 아닌 행성에서 섀도우맨이란 악마 그룹의 일원인 오즈는 하얀 전사를 만나 그동안의 자신의 과오를 깨우치고 선의의 사람으로 다시 태어난다. 그 후 오즈는 섀도우맨의 우두머리 슬레이트가 생명의 책 내용이 쓰여진 판을 손에 넣어 대혼란을 야기시켜서 지구를 멸망시키려는 계획을 알게된다. 그는 곧 태어날 때부터 상징을 갖고 태어난 물, 불, 공기, 금속의 네가지 요소들인 레이, 그래디, 세레나, 마이클을 불러 모은다. 슬레이트는 이 사실을 알고 그들의 정신을 교란시켜 오즈를 따르지 못하도록 안간힘을 쓴다. 그 와중에 마이클이 죽지만 오즈가 초능력으로 다시 살려내고 네 명의 힘을 합쳐 슬레이트를 물리치도록 단련시킨다. 마침내 한판 대결이 벌어지고 슬레이트를 악마에서 선한 인간으로 만드는데 성공한다. 그리고 오즈는 그 네 명에게 그 동안 배운 것을 사람들에게 가르쳐줄 것을 당부하고 멀리 떠나버린다.
젊고 잘생긴 악셀은 여자친구 도로가 있으면서도 항상 여자 뒤꽁무니를 쫓아다닌다. 어느날 도로는 악셀과의 결별을 선언하고 자신의 아파트에서 그를 내쫓는다. 새 집을 찾아다니던 악셀은 게이인 발터를 소개받는데 발터는 악셀에게 매력을 느끼고 있다. 발터는 악셀을 게이 파티에 데려가고, 그들은 그곳에서 노베르트를 만나게 된다. 큰 아파트의 소유자인 노베르트는 악셀을 유혹하기 위해 그를 자신의 집에 머무르게 한다. 한편 도로는 악셀의 아이를 임신한 사실을 알게 되고, 악셀이 게이들과 함께 살고 있는 것을 모른 채 그를 다시 돌아오게 하려 하는데..
