갈 곳 잃은 자들의 무덤이 되어주는 숲에는 땅에 묻힌 이들의 꿈이 각양각색의 원석이 되어 빛나고 있다. 땅에서 나는 원석의 소리를 듣고 그것을 캐내는 한 어부가 어느 날 반쯤 묻혀 죽어가는 사람을 구해낸다. 어부는 말을 하지 못하는/않는 그에게 통차이라는 이름을 주고 돌보며, 물에서 ‘음’ 소리와 함께 호흡하는 법도 가르친다. 과연 어부는 원석의 소리를 듣는 것처럼 통차이가 내는 무언의 소리를 들을 수 있었던 것일까? 난민이 죽고, 군대가 머물며, 소리 소문 없이 사람이 묻히고 있는 바닷가 마을의 숲에는 이루지 못한 꿈의 빛깔들이 내는 소리로 가득하고, 어둠이 깔렸을 때는 누구도 감히 그것을 확인하러 올 엄두를 내지 못한다. 다양한 원석들이 반짝이며 온 숲을 가득 채우고 우는 소리는 못다 이루고 죽어간 이들이 여전히 내뱉고 있는 호흡일지도 모른다. 원석에 이끌려 다가온다는 바다의 쥐가오리(만타 레이)만이 묻혀버린 자들의 좌절과 꿈의 실체를 두려워하지 않고 다가와 확인할 수 있는 것일까?
