Sota Kitahara (60 years old)
The young daughter of Keizo Tsujiguchi, a respected physician who runs his own hospital, is found murdered. Keizo secretly blames his wife Natsue because he suspects her of having an affair with his colleague Murai, and having been too distracted to keep proper watch over the child. Being a proud man, he does not accuse her directly, but concocts, instead, a twisted revenge against her. Pretending it is to comfort his devastated wife, Keizo arranges for them to adopt a baby girl. 쇼치쿠 누벨바그의 또 다른 총아였던 요시다 기주의 데뷔작. 삶을 지루하고 무력하게 느끼는 청년들이 범죄행각을 통해 탈출구를 찾으려 한다는 내용. 당시 유행하던 태양족 영화의 분위기를 그대로 담고 있지만, 좀더 차갑고 날렵한 면이 돋보인다. 흔히 요시다 기주의 최초 걸작은 , 가장 진보적으로 실험한 작품은 이 꼽히는데, 이 영화에선 누벨바그에 대한 영향력을 한껏 자인하고 있다. 특히, 요시다 기주는 고다르의 의 마지막 장면을 영화의 엔딩에서 되풀이하며 일종의 헌사를 바친다. 은 이 시기 태양족 영화 중에서는 다소 차가운 쪽에 속하는 듯하다.
