갓 수능을 마친 고등학교 3학년 새봄은 우편함에서 수상한 편지를 발견한다. 일본 북해도의 어느 마을에서 엄마를 향해 날아든, 절절한 연애 편지. 3년 전에 엄마와 이혼한 아빠도, 하나뿐인 삼촌도 엄마에 대해 잘 모르는 눈치다. 늘 피로에 찌들어 있고 무기력해 보이는 엄마가 답답했던 새봄은 무작정 엄마에게 같이 여행을 가자고 조른다.

한쪽 다리가 불편한 오빠 요시오와 지적 장애가 있는 동생 마리코, 두 남매가 한 항구 마을에 살고 있다. 어느 날, 마리코는 집을 나가고 그녀를 찾던 요시오는 한 낚시꾼의 전화를 받는다. 요시오는 낚시꾼의 보호를 받고 돌아온 마리코의 바지 주머니에서 1만 엔 지폐를 발견한다.

Yukio Haruyama (Riku Ohnishi) is an elementary school student. He has an uncle (Ryuhei Matsuda) that teaches philosophy part-time at an university. His uncle leeches off his family. The uncle then goes on a blind date and falls in love with beautiful Eri Inaba. She is a fourth generation Japanese living in Hawaii. Sometime later, Eri goes back to Hawaii to take over a coffee farm left behind by her recently deceased grandmother. Yukio and his uncle travel to Hawaii to see Eri.

남편의 바람으로 10년의 결혼생활에 종지부를 찍은 사쿠라. 그와 이혼 후 그녀는 다시는 한 남자만을 사랑하며 자신의 평생을 남자에게 소비하지 않겠다고 다짐한다. 그러던 그녀 앞에 직장 후배 타카치가 다가오게 되면서 그녀의 다짐에 적신호가 켜지게 된다. 사쿠라를 어렸을 때부터 지켜보며 함께 자라왔던 사촌, 모미지는 이혼이라는 굴레에 벗어나 새로운 남자와 새 출발 하라고 조언을 하지만 만남과 헤어짐에 회의감을 느낀 사쿠라는 오히려 진정한 사랑에 대한 무서움을 느낀다. 한편, 이 둘의 은사였던 사이토로부터 심상치 않은 전화를 받게 된 사쿠라는 타카치의 도움으로 모미지와 함께 선생님을 만나러 시골로 내려간다. 그리고 그곳에서 선생님이 암이라는 얘기를 듣게 되는데, 적지 않은 충격을 받은 사쿠라와 모미지는 선생님을 위로하며 오랜만에 선생님과 이야기를 나누게 된다. 그리고 선생님으로부터 한 치 앞도 알 수 없는 인생에 대한 조언을 듣게 된다. 이로 인해 사쿠라는 타카치의 마음을 좀 더 받아드리게 됐으며 제2의 인생을 시작하기 위해 앞으로 나아가게 된다.

서로의 부모님의 결혼으로 미츠키와 유야는 의남매가 된다. 미츠키는 그녀의 새 가족을 어려워하고, 유야는 그런 미츠키에게 어떻게 다가가야 할지 몰라 곤란해 한다. 어느 날 미츠키는 유야를 좋아하고 유야만이 자신을 천국으로 보내줄 수 있다고 믿는 히요리의 유령에 사로잡힌다.

Mami in a wedding. Memories of Mami who are full of happiness were filled with memories of the past. Mami was proud of her close parents. However, a tragedy strikes a family of three friends. She decides a panty shot might do the trick, so during her forecast she lifts her skirt, thereby capturing the attention and the hearts of viewers. Keiko's stunt creates such a stir of excitement over the weather report that viewers begin religiously turning in to see what she'll do next. However, this showboating routine earns the ire of Kaori, the beautiful and ambitious daughter of JTV's chairman. Jealous of her success and aching to take over the weather report, Kaori is willing to do just about anything to get what she wants.
