금발의 헐리우드 스타, 니키 그레이스는 새 영화에 캐스팅 되길 기대하고 있다. 어느 날, 옆집에 이사온 한 폴란드 아주머니가 인사를 한다며 니키의 집을 방문해서 니키가 기다리던 새 영화의 주인공이 될 것이라며 예언하듯 말한다. 예언대로 주인공으로 발탁된 니키는 기쁨에 그지 없다. 영화 제작이 진행되면서 이 영화가 폴란드의 단편 영화 <47>을 리메이크하는 작품이며, 원작의 두 주연 배우가 비참하게 살해당했다는 사실이 밝혀진다. 니키와 그녀의 상대 남자 배우 데본은 각자의 역할에 충실하며 대사를 말하듯 대화를 주고받고, 대화하듯 대사를 주고 받다가 서로의 감정에 빨려 들어가게 되지만, 폴란드 원작 주인공 남녀 배우들의 피살 원인이 넘지 말아야 했던 어떤 감정의 선 때문임을 알게 된다. 그 후 그들은 점점 알 수 없는 불길한 기운에 휩싸이기 시작하는데...

Ancient Rome, during the time of Emperor Nero. Vinicius, a young patrician, falls in love with the beautiful Lygia, the daughter of a Barbarian commander who was killed in battle, and wants her for his concubine. For Lygia, a Christian, being a pagan's concubine is a severe sin and disgrace. However, when Vinicius is wounded, Lygia cares for him, and starts to reciprocate his feelings. Vinicius, in return, becomes interested in Christian learning and asks Apostle Peter to teach him. In the meantime, Emperor Nero accuses Christians of having started a great fire in Rome. He encourages the imprisonment, torture and murder of his Christian subjects.

Entertaining movie about the early days of Polish stock exchange in the beginning of 80's. Young TV reporter is sucked into the inferno of easy money, deception, crime, sex and drugs. Sometimes like Kieslowski's moral tales, sometimes like Pasikowski's brutal fables, even sometimes like "Once upon a time in America". In a stir of frustration Kaziuk cuts down a family tree - a sacrilegious act in the eyes of his family. Going a step further and using a scythe for cutting the rye instead of a sickle brings the whole village against him.

A few hours before the official visit of the communist party representative, the management of the visited factory learns about it. Everything must be prepared to show the guest how well the place is being managed.

Detective thriller about a killer loose in the crowds. The film follows a sniper on his rounds looking for victims, while a police inspector, with few clues in hand, has to figure out the motive for the killings as well as who the psychopath is and where he might strike next. He uncovers that the mentally deranged sniper can't stand seeing people happy together in public places.

Set at the turn of the century it presents a story of a famous Polish athlete, Zbyszko Cyganiewicz. It begins in a small town where a traveling circus attracts a shy boy into a phony wrestling game to please the crowds. The youth, however, takes his strength seriously, eventually defeating a name wrestler in a fair match. Angered circus manager fires him; he leaves happily due to two wrestler brothers who were harassing him. The wrestler goes on to fame, performing in the world's top arenas, and one day is serenaded by a tenor from the crowd. Fame brings him women and admirers but he is uncompromising on his profession. He has his revenge on one of his tormentors defeating him in the ring. One day, attending a game in a tuxedo, he is challenged by another of the brothers and drawn into a brutal game, in course of which he kills his opponent. Thus his career ends.

Two men go to Warsaw to sell Christmas trees and meet old friends.

Modest editor, has shipped his wife and kids for the weekend, and is trying to relax in his house at the outskirts of Warsaw. His quiet evening is only disturbed by the accidental forecast made by a Gypsy woman, that at evening time he will murder a mysterious brunet.

Young former partisan recalls his war experience during a trip to the sea.

안제이 바이다 감독의 약속의 땅은 특정 시대, 특정 장소의 폴란드에 대한 다층적인 탐구를 담은 찰스 디킨스풍의 묘사가 두드러진 영화다. 19세기 말 우츠 시는 유럽 섬유 산업의 중심지로, 전세계에서 가장 큰 유대인 집단이 장악하고 있었다. 이곳은 수천 명에 달하는 실업가들의 탐욕을 채워줄 무한한 기회가 제공되는 초기 자본주의자들의 땅이다. 안제이 바이다 감독은 의욕에 찬 세 명의 친구들에 초점을 맞춰 이야기를 전개하지만 동시에 수많은 인물들에 대한 세밀한 관찰도 놓치지 않는다. 사회 내부에서의 계급 갈등, 인간의 어두운 면, 자본주의 체제의 본질 등에 대한 완벽한 묘사가 눈에 띄는 작품이다.
