In August, 1918, Matsuura Ito lives in a coastal village of Toyama with her husband and three children. During the summer, there wasn't much fish to catch, so her husband has been far away from home to catch fish. To support herself and her children, Ito carries goods from ships like the other women in the village. Meanwhile, the residents encounter rising prices for rice. The women are unable to feed their family due to the high prices of rice. The women ask a nearby rice store to sell rice at lower prices, but it fails. The price of rice continues to rise daily. Due to an incident, Ito and the other village women step up to the plate.

A "Goze" is a blind entertainer who travels to various places singing stories while playing the shamisen (Japanese three-stringed lute). Becoming a goze due to her blindness at seven-years-old, Haru was strictly trained with a parent's affection by her once kind mother, Tome.

Set in Tokyo in 1940, the peaceful life of the Nogami Family suddenly changes when the father, Shigeru, is arrested and accused of being a Communist. His wife Kayo works frantically from morning to night to maintain the household and bring up her two daughters with the support of Shigeru's sister Hisako and Shigeru's ex-student Yamazaki, but her husband does not return. WWII breaks out and casts dark shadows on the entire country, but Kayo still tries to keep her cheerful determination, and sustain the family with her love. This is an emotional drama of a mother and an eternal message for peace.

It is the second work of the Oita trilogy of Obayashi . Following " Nigori Snow ", Ise Masazo draws a song written by composers and songwriter "Farewell of 22 years old " as a motif and draws a story of love that spans two generations of mother and daughter.

After a convenience store robbery, three unidentified men hold a group of people hostage in a hospital. Inspector Ishida and Captain Tohno handle the negotiations while one of their colleagues, Lt. Ando, tries to find out why the men decided to take the hospital hostage. Through flashbacks, relevant information is revealed to the audience. When the negotiations are finished, most things seem to be fine until they lose track of the criminals. Then, the story unveils from a different perspective, its roots in feelings of love and vengeance.

Commencing well-respected Nippon director Kazuo Kuroki's sixth decade behind the camera, "A Boy's Summer in 1945" (literally "A Beautiful Summer in Kirishima") is a lyric, novelistic drama set in the countryside in the last days before Japan's surrender ending WWII. 군마현이라는 지방의 자치단체에서 자본을 출자해 만든 작품. 이전 작품에 비해 밝은 모습의 영화다. 산 사이로 강이 흐르는 시골 마을 히토스지의 어느 농가에 남미에서 산을 타다 사고를 당한 타 쿠지가 무의식 상태로 누워있다. 타쿠지의 친구 카미 무라는 어렸을 때 타쿠지와 함께 놀았던 오두막 을 찾곤 한다. 한편 마을 어귀의 바에서 일하는 동남아 여자들 중 티아라는 여인이 있는데 그녀 는 일본에 오기 전 홍수로 아들을 잃었다. 계절이 바뀌면서 마을 사람들이 티아에 대해 알게될 즈음 티아는 타쿠지를 알게 된다. 여름이 오고 결국 타쿠지는 죽는데, 티아는 망자의 세계에서 산자를 부르는 소리인 마쯔 가제 공연을 보고나서 혼자 숲으로 걸어가 그날 밤을 버려진 오두막에 서 보낸다. 한편, 타쿠지의 오랜 친구인 키무라는 만월을 바라보다가 타쿠지 의 영혼이 산으로 돌아왔다고 느끼고 새벽에 산으로 올라간다. 오두막 에서 만난 둘은 벌써 오래전에 마른 것으로 알고 있던 샘에서 나는 물소리를 듣는다.

작가이면서 교수인 아버지 K, 자상하고 지혜로운 어머니, 선천적 뇌 장애자인 장남 이이요, 그림동화작가를 꿈꾸는 딸 마아짱, 재수생인 막내 호기, 이렇게 다섯 가족은 조용하고 평화로운 생활을 영위해 나가고 있다. 하지만 장애자인 이이요의 존재는 묵시적이고 잠재적으로 가정에 어두운 그림자를 드리운다. 그러나 가족들은 슬기로운 인내와 지혜로 그러한 것들을 극복해 나아간다. 만약 이이요가 정상이었다면 이라는 부질없는 생각은 절대 하지 않기로 서로 약속하고 지켜 나간다. 가족들 중에 특히 딸인 마짱이 이이요에게 각별한 애정과 관심으로 돌보아 준다. 가족들의 이러한 사랑으로 장애를 많이 극복한 이이요는 소리와 음악에 관해서 만은 천재적인 재능을 보인다. Kagari (Akira Kobayashi), a scout and overseer of Ginza bar hostesses, receives an urgent phone call from Sawako, a hostess at the bar Rie, and rushes to Tokyo International Airport to meet her. When he arrives she is gone. At the bar he learns that Tabuchi, a steady customer, had been quite friendly with Sawako and may know something. Tabuchi claims he knows nothing and Kagari lets the matter drop. Over time Kagari learns from Takijima, a businessman, that Sawako is in a hospital in Yokohama. Takijima explains that he found her in Singapore working as a street girl and brought her back to Japan. Sawako had lost her memory after being subjected to narcotics. Kagari swears to find the person responsible.
