Com o bombardeamento dos japoneses a Pearl Harbor (EUA), dois amigos, um americano outro inglês, alistando-se na força aérea de cada um dos seus países para participar na 2ª Guerra Mundial. Mas no meio do drama da guerra surge um outro, relacionado com a paixão que ambos desenvolvem pela mesma mulher, no que será um teste sério à sua grande amizade. Este filme é baseado na obra homónima de Randall Wallace.
É a história de uma criança que sofre com dislexia e custa a ser compreendida. O jovem Ishaan, não consegue acompanhar as aulas ou focar sua atenção, e é tratado com muita rudeza por seu pai. Após serem chamados pela escola, o pai decide levá-lo a um internato, atitude que leva o pequeno a entrar em depressão. Um professor substituto de artes, Nikumbh, logo percebe o problema de Ishaan, e entra em ação com seu plano para devolver a ele a vontade de viver.
Ambientado no mundo atual, onde os doze deuses do Olimpo (instalados 600 andares acima do planeta, no edifício Empire State Building, em Nova York) estão vivos e criando uma nova raça de jovens heróis mitológicos que são semideuses metade mortais, metade imortais, Zeus suspeita que Percy, filho adolescente de Poseidon, tenha roubado seu raio, a arma mais poderosa do universo.
