A talented high school football player encounters trouble in a college program.
O filme conta a história de Louis Zamperini, uma estrela da pista olímpica e um herói da Segunda Guerra Mundial, que durante uma missão militar, sofreu um acidente de avião no Oceano Pacífico, do qual sobreviveu junto com dois companheiros. Ele E mais um sobrevivem. Eles passaram 47 dias à deriva numa balsa, quando foram encontrados por um navio de guerra japonês. Que os fizeram de prisioneiros e os levaram para uma ilha onde foram torturados e mantidos como prisioneiros de guerra por dois anos.
Dia após dia, Christine Lucas desperta sem se lembrar de absolutamente nada que aconteceu em sua vida nos últimos 20 anos. Isto acontece devido a um acidente sofrido uma década atrás, que fez com que seu cérebro não consiga reter as informações recebidas ao longo do dia. Com isso, cabe ao seu marido Ben a tarefa de relembrá-la de sua vida, através de um mural de fotos e detalhes do passado. Além disto, ela passa por uma terapia sigilosa com o dr. Nasch, que procura incitá-la a ter lembranças sobre o que aconteceu. Só que, aos poucos, ela percebe que nem tudo é o que parece ser.

The film reconstructs the mysterious story of the 1942 Patagonia World Soccer championship, never acknowledged by the official sports organizations, and which for decades have remained shrouded in legend without the winner ever being known.
Young David Morton, heir to millions, has been over-zealously restrained from normal youthful activities by his two old-maid Aunts, Harriet and Agatha.
