Após causar uma grande quantidade de caos, um garçom (Charles Chaplin) decide pegar seus patins e vai até o rinque de patinação de gelo da cidade. Depois do verdadeiro balé no gelo, o garçom é convidado para uma grande festa na casa de Edna (Edna Purviance) e lá, ele causa mais confusões ainda.
O assistente de uma casa de penhores lida com seu chefe mal-humorado, seu colega irritante e alguns clientes excêntricos enquanto flerta com a filha da casa de penhores, até que um vigarista pérfido e com más intenções chega à casa de penhores.
Carlitos é um aprendiz de alfaiate que, por acidente, queima a calça do conde e por isso é demitido.
