Sinopse
"I envy the Japanese" Van Gogh wrote to his brother Theo. In the exhibition on which this film is based - VAN GOGH & JAPAN at the Van Gogh Museum in Amsterdam - one can see why. Though Vincent van Gogh never visited Japan it is the country that had the most profound influence on him and his art. One cannot understand Van Gogh without understanding how Japanese art arrived in Paris in the middle of the 19th century and the profound impact it had on artists like Monet, Degas and, above all, Van Gogh. The film travels not only to France and the Netherlands but also to Japan to further explore the remarkable heritage that so affected Van Gogh and made him the artist we know of today.

Um ano após o suicídio de Vincent Van Gogh, Armand Roulin (Douglas Booth) encontra uma carta por ele enviada ao irmão Theo, que jamais chegou ao seu destino. Após conversar com o pai, carteiro que era amigo pessoal de Van Gogh, Armand é incentivado a entregar ele mesmo a correspondência. Desta forma, ele parte para a cidade francesa de Arles na esperança de encontrar algum contato com a família do pintor falecido. Quando o reservado e solitário adolescente Fenix (Chase Hudson), conhece a popular colegial Scarlett (Sydney Sweeney), os dois formam um vínculo que molda o resto de sua vida. Um drama musical com a música de Machine Gun Kelly. A produção é protagonizada pelos atores Sydney Sweeney e Chase Hudson, além das participações de Trippie Redd, Blackbear e Iann Dior. A narração ficou por conta de Machine Gun Kelly e Travis Barker, baterista do Blink-182, com quem produziu o disco. A direção é do próprio Colson Baker (MGK) acompanhado do rapper Mod Sun.

In late spring, 1890, Vincent moves to Auvers-sur-Oise, near Paris, under the care of Dr. Gachet, living in a humble inn. Fewer than 70 days later, Vincent dies from a self-inflicted gunshot wound. We see Vincent at work, painting landscapes and portraits. His brother Theo, wife Johanna, and their baby visit Auvers. Vincent is playful and charming, engaging the attentions of Gachet's daughter Marguerite (who's half Vincent's age), a young maid at the inn, Cathy a Parisian prostitute, and Johanna. Shortly before his death, Vincent visits Paris, quarrels with Theo, disparages his own art and accomplishments, dances at a brothel, and is warm then cold toward Marguerite.

The wet box drips on the paint, the paint softens and releases the conjoined painters who walk around the museum intervening on the works of art in a Cubist and Surrealist manner. The caretaker "chases" our painters in a classic cartoon chasing, using the Renaissance mechanisms to restore the order.
