O filme “Sappho”, foi produzido na Crimeia, pelo novo estúdio ucraniano “Yalta Film”. É uma história de um triângulo amoroso entre casal americano Sappho (Avalon Barrie), Phil (Todd Soley) na sua lua de mel e a Helene (Lyudmila Shiryaeva), a filha do arqueólogo russo Professor Orlov (actor ucraniano Bohdan Stupka).A história tem lugar nos anos 1920 na ilha grega de Lesbos e lembra a lenda grega sobre a poetisa Safo (Sappho), que foi a “responsável” pelo termo lésbica. Mas o papel importante cabe à própria natureza da Crimeia, que tem sítios lindíssimos, muitíssimo parecidos com as ilhas gregas. A música no filme é de Mikis Theodorakis e da sua filha Maro Theodorakis.
