Inspirado nos incríveis acontecimentos em torno da montanha mais alta do mundo, Evereste documenta a inspiradora jornada de dois diferentes grupos de expedição que são desafiados além de seus limites quando são acometidos por uma das maiores avalanches já registradas. Com a coragem testada por um dos fenômenos mais severos do planeta, os escaladores terão de enfrentar obstáculos quase impossíveis em busca de sobrevivência.

Shanghai, China. Yi é uma adolescente que, certo dia, descobre que um yeti está no telhado do prédio em que ela mora. A partir disso, ela e seus colegas passam a chamar a criatura mística de "Everest" e, ao criarem laços com o animal, decidem levá-lo até sua família, que está no topo do planeta. Porém, os três amigos terão que conseguir despistar o ganancioso Burnish e a zoóloga Dra. Zara, que querem pegar o yeti a qualquer custo.

Naquele dia, tirando algumas animosidades, era o começo de um sonho que continuou quando a equipe canadense chegou, em 22 de julho de 1982, em Katmandu, no Nepal. Apesar de todos saberem dos riscos, os vários imprevistos imponderáveis logo começaram a transformar o sonho num pesadelo.
