O filme começa com o discurso do Presidente Kennedy, em 12/09/1962 na Universidade de Rice, anunciando a meta da conquista da Lua. O restante do filme são filmagens da Nasa com as vozes dos astronautas da Missão Apollo, que nos leva numa viagem à Lua, desde aculturação dos trajes espaciais até a alunissagem. Filmagens realizadas pelos cientistas e engenheiros de Houston, são mescladas com as seqüências realizadas na órbita da Terra, vendo-se a terra recuar de dentro da cápsula espacial, circundar a Lua, apreciando-se a sua superfície de perto, o desembarque, e as cenas dos astronautas na superfície lunar. Com uma trilha sonora fantástica, o diretor nos leva a comprovar a teoria de Galileu, e refletir sobre esta maravilhosa experiência.

E.J. Mackernutt, Jr., an 11-year-old boy who has always been fascinated by space and astronauts, sneaks into Cape Kennedy and becomes a stowaway on a spaceship scheduled for a lunar landing. After he is discovered, NASA at first cancels the landing, but E.J. and the astronauts convince them to go forward with it. Problems arise when one of the astronauts is incapacitated by illness and the other two are stranded on the moon's surface, but E.J. is able to command the space capsule and save the day.

Steady, dependable Coast Guard Lieutenant Raymond "Ray" Dower and reckless aviator Thomas "Speed" Bradshaw are the closest of friends. Ray saves the life of Captain Tobias Bliss, tramp steamer skipper, in a daring rescue at sea. Speed flies the injured man back to the base hospital, where the two officers later visit him. There Ray meets Nancy Bliss, Bliss' grand-daughter, and falls in love with her. Speed meets her at a dance and urges Ray to propose before some other guy does. Ray is assigned to flood rescue duty, and Speed and Nancy start going out together and discover they are in love.

A former college football hero and his college sweetheart get married. Marital turmoil ensues as her criminal law practice soars while he cannot get his career as an architect off the ground. They separate, and the man begins making extra money by singing in a nightclub. When he is unjustly accused of murder, it is up to his estranged wife to defend him in court.
