Passado na Espanha dos anos 1950', um jovem (Sanz) deixa o exército e procura emprego para que ele e sua noiva (Verdu) possam casar-se. Aluga um quarto a uma viúva (Abril), e logo começa um tórrido romance com ela. A noiva descobre e decide reconquistá-lo, oferecendo-se a ele e levando-o a conhecer a sua família. Em última análise, ele tem que tomar uma decisão. Baseado em uma história verdadeira.
