Set in the late 90s, Rustic Oracle is a dramatic feature about Ivy, an 8-year-old girl trying to understand what happened to her big sister who has vanished from their small Mohawk community. Gaspésie, early 1990s. Claire’s Parents, Jenny and Walter, are in obvious despair. Months after their breakup, her mom’s trying to pull away from her ex, but he refuses to let go. In the summer of 1969, Bernard, a Gaspesian fisherman's son, arrive in Perce to fin work. He meets Paul, Jacques and Francis, Quebec Independence activists who have come to open the 'Fisherman's House'. They aim to organize public conferences and offer lodgings to young travelers. A motley crowd of Quebecers from all over the province soon flocks to Perce: artists, hippies, rockers, hitchhikers and the like shake local authorities. Bernard is won over by the trio's ideas and gets increasingly involved in their project. The following year, the will join the Front de liberation du Quebec (FLQ) and play a pivotal role in the Summer Crisis 1969.
Numa montagem paralela, o filme conta duas histórias distintas, que se passam em cidades, países e épocas diferentes. Uma delas se passa em Paris, nos anos 60, e relata a relação quase doentia de uma mãe e de um filho portador da Síndrome de Down. A outra se passa em 2011 em Montreal, no Canadá, e conta a história de um homem divorciado que, acreditando ter achado o amor da sua vida enquanto ainda criança, se surpreende ao ser arrebatado por um novo louco amor sem muita explicação para acontecer.
