Sayen segue uma pista que a leva ao pitoresco Deserto de Atacama. Lá, ela relutantemente se alia a uma garota de Atacma, Quimal, na tentativa de limpar o nome do pai e impedir que a cidade dela vire um descampado árido devido ao uso predatório de água pela Acteon.

Nas florestas do sul do Chile, Sayen, uma jovem mapuche, sai em busca dos mercenários que assassinaram sua avó. Usando seu treinamento, ela consegue sobreviver e virar o jogo contra esses intrusos. Ela deve escolher entre ir embora ou proteger não só sua gente, mas também outros grupos nativos, da tenebrosa empresa que ameaça suas terras e seus meios de subsistência.

Folil, "root" in mapunzungun, is an invitation to question the relationship of humanity with nature; the way we think about it and inhabit it. Two young Mapuche people from the communities of Pukura and Traitraico, in southern Chile, face the difficulty of protecting the forest in order to continue collecting wild mushrooms, their food and medicine. The territory itself and the affected Mapuche communities are making the world aware of their problems, where the language of nature faces the paradoxes of development.

Santiago, Chile, 2006. Martín, um estudante do ensino médio indiferente a tudo, une-se à ocupação de sua escola para se aproximar de Laura, a presidente idealista do centro estudantil. Durante o movimento, Martín vai questionar seus preconceitos com os colegas e, pouco a pouco, embarcará na mesma luta deles.
