The basis of the film's narrative will be the monologues of recognized experts in various fields of knowledge and various fields of activity, each of which will characterize the air from their professional point of view.

From the Life of Monuments
Screenplay
During the years of socialism, Moscow has turned into a kind of museum - a sort of glyptotek (collection of sculptures) of the Soviet period. But city monuments are not just museum exhibits, they "live" among us on the streets and squares, their fates are closely intertwined with the fates of the city and its inhabitants, with the events taking place at their pedestals. What place does the Soviet monumental heritage occupy in our cultural consciousness and in the space of a modern city?

The film was conceived as a story about the history of the Gogol Center Theater and the case of Kirill Serebrennikov. But the circumstances were different. This is a film about a film that could not be made.
Another Speech. Memories of Alexey Reshetov

He never lived to fame in the capitals and great regalia but managed to have a strong influence on the spiritual formation of several generations of his readers.

Eating in the USSR
Screenplay
More than a quarter century has passed since the collapse of the Soviet Union. We still feel the contradictory echoes, the echo of this collapse, and, probably, we will feel for a long time. But there is little left that still unites us - former citizens of the former empire, wherever fate brings us - Soviet food, an absolutely unique sociocultural phenomenon of Soviet history and Soviet life.

Thirteen Nights
Writer
The Perm Region in the fate of Osip Mandelstam is a separate tragic page. In 1933, the poet wrote a poem "We live without feeling the country under us..." and on June 3, 1934, he was deported to Cherdyn, a small Ural town. The exile lasted two weeks, then there was Voronezh, but Cherdyn left her deep mark in Mandelstam's poetry. The film is a psychological reconstruction of Mandelstam's exile, "administratively exiled" under the number "1044".

Vicissitudes of Translation
Writer
The hero of the film Viktor Golyshev is a translator. He made such masterpieces of English literature as George Orwell's 1984 and William Faulkner's The Light in August, Ken Kesey's Over the Cuckoo's Nest and Robert P. Warren's All the Royal Army available to the Russian reader... Everyone knows these novels in Russia. But few people guess about the existence of Golyshev. And he himself treats his profession calmly and matter-of-factly. As well as to yourself and to your life. His philosophy is simple, Tolstoyan: the philosophy of small deeds. And - as a result - the creation of a high culture. In a word, a simple translator from God.

At the turn of the millennium, Viktor Pelevin became perhaps the most fashionable, popular and commercially successful writer in Russia. At the same time, he does not appear in public, does not give interviews, wears dark glasses, and does not like to be recognized on the street. Who is this mysterious Mr. Pelevin? How did it happen that the most honorable title for a Russian writer – "the ruler of thoughts" - turned out to be applicable to him today? And how was he able to keep his "incognito" at the same time? All this is reflected in the film by people who knew our elusive hero well at different periods of his life – his classmates and teachers, friends of his youth and fellow writers, critics and publishers
1945 Menu
Writer
Mountains of books and many films have been written about the Yalta Conference – the meeting of Stalin, Roosevelt and Churchill, which took place in February 1945 and determined the fate of the post-war world. It would seem that everything has been known about these events for a long time. But only relatively recently, thanks to the research of the famous Russian historian William Pokhlebkin, we became aware of the details of a grandiose "culinary" action – a series of banquets that accompanied the negotiations of the allies in the devastated Crimea that difficult, still military winter. For obvious reasons, these feasts could not get into the field of view of the newsreelers of that time. But ... miraculously preserved materials give us the opportunity to feel their scale and specific atmosphere. No one says to see. And no one claims that the materials are documentary.

Here is the famous opera and ballet theater, the famous ballet school, whose graduates dance at the best stages of the world, and grateful, understanding and appreciating art public. On the Alleys of the Central Park
Director
For several decades, the Central Park of Culture and Recreation named after Gorky (or abbreviated CPKiO) was for the Soviet people a kind of "factory of happiness", a model of a "bright future", or "paradise on earth". Time passed. Different political winds blew in the country, slogans and portraits of leaders changed at mass celebrations, sculptures on alleys changed ... Gradually it turned from a "factory of happiness" into a banal "place of leisure", and by the beginning of the XXI century it finally became dilapidated. Today, the old park is actively changing, being reconstructed, trying to adapt to the needs and demands of the new time. At the same time, it is important not to forget that the CPKiO was the product and evidence of a terrible, but very significant era. And to erase her traces does not mean to get rid of her complexes at all

This story is about the birth, rise and fall of a unique phenomenon in the history of Russian cinema - about the "era of cooperative cinema". The year 2006 was, perhaps, one of the most tragic in the recent history of the Russian theater. Two great theater artists - David Borovsky and Oleg Sheintsis - died at once. Both of them were the true creators of the theatrical space, who defined the style, trends and language of scenography of the second half of the XX - beginning of the XXI century. We would like to tell about the life, creative destiny and the main artistic discoveries of these outstanding masters in this film...

We Shall Build Our New Myth…
Director
We all loved the movie about the Winter Storm. We liked how the Aurora shoots at the palace and paves the way with fire for the stormtroopers, who picturesquely climb the lattice gates. However, in fact, the Winter One did not need to be stormed at all. And anyway, the real events of October 17th looked much more prosaic. Meanwhile, the new government needed its own mythology of the "Great Coup", corresponding to its ideological dogmas and, at the same time, bright, impressive, capable of mobilizing the masses. All available cultural resources and, above all, the resources of cinema, which was not accidentally awarded the title of "the most important of the arts", were thrown into the creation of this mythology...
Unnatural Selection
Director
In 1992, during the Georgian-Abkhaz conflict, the famous Sukhumi Monkey Nursery found itself in the epicenter of military events. The fighting took place not only on the neighboring streets of Sukhumi, but also directly on the territory of the nursery. Some of the monkeys were transported by the staff to Russia to the institute's branch in Adler. Unfortunately, it was not possible to save all the primates. Hundreds of monkeys died, unable to endure cold, hunger, stress... The story of the monkey nursery from Sukhumi is not only another drama of the collision of the human world and the natural world. This is a fairly accurate reflection of what is happening to the human community itself in the so-called "hot spots".
The Banks of Rhine
Director
"In my opinion, Rein is the most significant poet of our generation, that is, the generation to which I belong...," Nobel laureate Joseph Brodsky wrote about his friend. Our film is a kind of monologue of the poet "about time and about myself". There was a place in it for the famous tales of the Rhine, and his memories of Anna Akhmatova and Joseph Brodsky, and details of his past and present life, and, of course, his poems that have already become textbook and completely new…

The writer Sergey Kaledin gained fame and popularity at the dawn of perestroika. His stories "The Humble Cemetery" and "Stroybat" became real bestsellers, were translated and published in many countries of the world. But a few years ago, Sergey realized that he had already realized all his literary plans, and he did not want to write just to confirm his status as a writer. And on the advice of his friend Lyudmila Ulitskaya, Sergei decides to go to work in a children's educational colony...
By The Walls Of «Moscow»
Director
The impressive building of the Moscow Hotel, erected in the heart of the city back in 1935, has been one of the most familiar architectural and historical symbols of our capital for 70 years. For the first hotel built under Soviet rule, this symbolic place was chosen - a stone's throw from the Kremlin. Its walls were mute witnesses to all the most important events of Russian history – military bombing and Victory Day parade, Stalin's funeral and the first Moscow Film Festival, fireworks and political rallies of the early 90s. And recently, because of the emergency condition, they decided to demolish the hotel, and build a new one in its place, looking exactly the same ... but only with an ultramodern five-star filling.
All Our Life is Sots Art
Director
Admittedly, it is not so often possible to see the birth, flowering and extinction of some creative direction in art during the life of one generation. Perhaps one of the rare examples of this kind gives us a creative direction that has gone down in history under the name "social art", which is regarded in the West as the most significant contribution of Soviet fine art to the world artistic process of the second half of the twentieth century. In our film, the fate of this creative direction is reflected by its brightest representatives – Vitaly Komar, Alexander Kosolapov, Leonid Sokov, Boris Orlov, Rostislav Lebedev and Mikhail Roshal. Their collective story about the fate of "social art" unfolds against the background of the chronicle of the political and artistic life of the 70-90s.
Wodka: Nationalprodukt Nr.1
Writer
The whole world is confident that bears walk the streets in Russia, and the entire population from young to old is drinking vodka from morning to evening. In fairness, we note that Russian people themselves recognize the reputation of inveterate drunkards and are proud of it somewhere. Russian Russian documentarian Alexey Khanyutin made an attempt to analyze the role of vodka in the life of a Russian person.
The Last Jew
Director
The village of Ilyino, located in the south-western "corner" of the Tver province, at first glance does not differ from other villages of the Russian Non-Chernozem region. Meanwhile, this village is unusual, with its own special, very dramatic fate. More than 150 years ago it was founded by Jews, followers of the Hasidic creed. In the early forties, about three thousand Jews lived here. In the autumn of the 41st, German troops entered the village. Jewish families who did not have time to evacuate turned out to be prisoners of a ghetto organized by the fascists right here in the village. Those who survived this terrible time left after the war, many died. And by the beginning of the 21st century, only one of the survivors of the ghetto remained in Ilyin – Alexander Yakovlevich Karpenko. Last…
Let There Be Light!
Director
Everyone calls our hero Uncle Yasha (well, if officially, then Yakov Markovich Levitin). And he is certainly a historical person. People enter history in different ways - he entered with a movie spotlight. Yakov Markovich has been working as an illuminator at the Russian Central Documentary Film Studio for almost 57 (!) years. Over the years, he traveled around the country, saw many famous and important people (including all the political leaders of the country - from Stalin to Yeltsin). And he also "illuminated" the era. It was thanks to the light of the searchlights installed by him that it was possible to capture on film almost all the main political events of the second half of the twentieth century.
