Com isso, a equipe da plataforma se torna a melhor opção para realizar o salvamento, ficando acertado que o tenente Coffey (Michael Biehn) supervisionará as operações. Entretanto, Bud Brigman (Ed Harris), um mergulhador que chefia a plataforma, diz à operação que acaba de pressentir que sua equipe corre perigo, mas Brigman não poderia imaginar que iria se deparar com algo totalmente surpreendente.
