Nascida e criada em Paris, Clara Bellar é atriz, cantora, escritora, diretora e produtora. A carreira cinematográfica de Clara decolou quando ela conheceu o diretor francês da New Wave, Eric Rohmer, depois que ele a viu em uma produção parisiense de A Bela Adormecida. Rohmer a colocou como protagonista em seu filme Rendezvous in Paris. Como atriz, ela é mais conhecida por interpretar a babá robô em AI de Steven Spielberg, e por estrelar Dominion: Prequel to the Exorcist. Isso levou a outros papéis principais em filmes, incluindo Kill the Poor, Oranges Amères, Romance and Rejection, This Space between us, Sleepy Time Gal e O Farmacêutico.
Lançou dois discos gravados no Brasil, My Brazilian Heart e My French Heart, com arranjos de Dori Caymmi e participações de Chico Buarque, Ivan Lins, João Bosco e Milton Nascimento. Ela fala francês, inglês, português, espanhol e alemão.
Depois de estudar direção cinematográfica na New York Film Academy, Clara escreveu, produziu e dirigiu o curta-metragem Watermelon Man. O filme foi apresentado em vários festivais norte-americanos. Clara, então, escreveu, produziu e dirigiu o documentário Being and Becoming, um filme sobre o movimento de Aprendizagem Natural Autodirigido, Child-Lead, conhecido como Unschooling nos EUA. O filme foi rodado na França, Alemanha, Reino Unido e Estados Unidos ao longo de dois anos.

Being and Becoming explore the choice not to school ones children, to trust them and to let them learn freely what they are passionate about. Through four countries, the US, Germany (where it's illegal not to go to school), France and the UK, the film is a truth quest about the natural desire to learn.

Entirely made in California, the film brings together 30 American and European actors in an epic which crosses the mythical territories of that cinematic land from Zabriskie Point to Mulholland Drive. California is revisited through the movie memories incarnated by the very presence of famous actors and actresses. "The American Tetralogy" is a way of staging reality which questions the fictional nature of the movies.
